Maddy and Charlotte made their return to The Block during last night’s episode and they have some things to say about it, particularly the allegation that they intentionally withheld a production van from another team.
The pair took to Instagram Stories after claiming Block fan Facebook groups had been “outraged” by the events shown on screen, particularly the suggestion that they had deliberately prevented their rival team from using the van, resulting in a blow-up with Jolene.
“We absolutely did not intentionally withhold the van from the other team, like they implied,” they wrote.
They say they had organised to use the production van with the production team the day before the reveal and had received clearance for the times they needed it.
They added that the other team had not communicated with them beforehand to say they needed the van or had plans to use it.
However, on the morning of the reveal, the gals said production called and asked whether they could pick up the other team’s furniture because they were stressed and had not organised a plan to collect it before reveal morning.
“My response was, ‘If I can fit it in the van, ABSOLUTELY!’” they wrote.
They agreed because it was “simply the kind thing to do” and because they genuinely wanted both teams to finish the challenge.
They then shared a screenshot of a text exchange between Maddy and Jolene, in which she explained that she had spoken to Holly about picking up their furniture.
“I am so happy to do this thing I am not sure how much will fit! We have a couch, bed heads, and a bunch of other furniture so it will be a full van,” Maddy wrote.
Jolene replied with the items she needed collected, including a lounge, bed head, TV cabinet and shelf.
Maddy then told her she would see if they could fit everything in, adding that they had contacted Holly to find another solution if they couldn’t.
Maddy and Charlotte said the situation ultimately became about something much bigger than the competition itself.
“Ultimately, this was about something far greater than prize money or competition,” they wrote. “It was about creating beautiful, safe spaces for women and children who needed them.”
They explained that when they realised they could not fit the other team’s furniture in the van alongside their own team’s belongings, they contacted production to find a solution.
According to them, production then arranged for the other team’s furniture to be collected by another truck.
“The crew literally arrived at the warehouse while I was there also, so we knew they had been taken care of,” they claimed.
Maddy and Charlotte then rushed back to return the van so the other team could use it if they wanted to.

They also disputed the timing shown in the episode, claiming they returned the van at 10:52am, rather than 12:01pm as portrayed on screen.
They shared another screenshot, which appeared to show a message saying the other team’s belongings had been taken care of.
“I was told they were completely sorted by production and Jolene had my number, and I didn’t hear from her,” they wrote.
Maddy and Charlotte also pushed back against the impression that they had deliberately made things harder for their fellow contestants.
“We genuinely wanted every team to do well, and we would never intentionally treat another team in the way it was implied by the contestants,” they wrote.
The pair said this was particularly important to them given their own experience on the show.
“It’s disappointing to see something communicated that doesn’t reflect what actually happened, particularly when it involves a challenge that means so much to us!” they continued.
They acknowledged that The Block is an “incredibly intense experience” and that emotions can run high, but argued that contestants should be honest about what happened.
“Our whole team was there for the same reason, to create something meaningful for women and children who deserve it,” they wrote.
“And that’s what we’ll continue to focus on.”
The pair finished with a reminder that viewers are only seeing a small portion of what happens behind the scenes.
“Let’s all remember that this is reality TV and you’ll only ever see a snippet of a full conversation that was had!” they concluded.
