Throughout the 2025 season of The Block so far, Han and Can have gotten a pretty bad wrap, with many viewers questioning their relationship after numerous snaps and disagreements.
Viewers have seen them argue over painting, disagree on styling choices and exchange more than a few sharp remarks. However, with the season progressing, social media chatter suggests audiences are warming to the pair.
“I think these two have been an acquired taste. Really disliked them at first but now think they are quite funny, especially Can’s sense of humour,” one Reddit user wrote.
Another poster pointed out that perhaps Han and Can are painted to be more villainous than they actually are.
“I know that Han does things wrong, like the whole debacle with the builder and exaggerating his texts as an example. She’s also so snappy and rude to Dan when she should absolutely not be. But is she as horrible as they make her out to be? I honestly just think she’s a slightly awkward person who is a bit overwhelmed,” they wrote.
“I agree, I can’t bring myself to ‘hate’ them the way they seem to want us to hate them,” a third added. While a fourth chimed in: “They do seem the most hardworking house, but seem to lack the styling finesse of some of the other houses.”
Han and Can also defended their portrayal in an interview with Chattr earlier in the season.
“We’re both naturally fun, playful, and affectionate when not under extreme pressure. We love to laugh, dream up ideas together, and bring those ideas to life,” they told Chattr.
“We’re both perfectionists, and we take pride in creating something special, which meant during the show, we were often so busy on site or on the road that our lighter moments happened late at night back in the vans. If we had our time again, we’d have a bigger team and start the show with a builder to take some of the pressure off and allow us to enjoy those moments more often.”
How do the rest of The Block cast feel about Han and Can?
While Han and Can may come across as the group’s outcasts on TV — often missing group get-togethers — Sonny, Alicia, Mat, and Robby revealed that the girls actually share a strong bond with the rest of the cast.
“We speak to the girls a couple of times a week, we’ve been texting with them this afternoon. We have a very good friendship with the girls,” Sonny told Chattr in an interview in August.
“We absolutely love them,” Alicia echoed. “They are the kindest girls you’ll ever meet.”
Robby said that there’s no bad blood between any of the Blockheads, and that everyone gets along famously.
“We are very, very proud to say — and I know all the other contestants will be the same — that we went on this show just Matt and I, and we walked off with eight best friends — with Matt and myself making 10.
“Everyone’s still in the group chat. We speak every day, we laugh every day, we send videos to each other, we support each other, which is the first, I think, from feedback from previous years. And we’re, yeah, we’re all very good mates. And, you know, we’re proud of that.”
The Block 2025 airs on Sundays at 7:30pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
