Angus and Simon might not have made many friends with their fiery comments on My Kitchen Rules (MKR), but according to Angus, there was one person who was even more nervous than viewers watching from home — his fiancée Taylor.
Speaking exclusively to Chattr, Angus revealed his partner wasn’t exactly looking forward to seeing his confrontational moments air, particularly his heated interactions with gatecrasher Zoe.

Despite the backlash, Angus said he has no regrets about how he handled the situation.
“I’m quite confident!” he told Chattr.
“Look, I think my fiancée is not confident at all [about the episodes airing], but I never felt like we said anything that crossed a line and I was quite honest. I told them I wanted to put the gatecrashers on the back foot, so it wasn’t a secret.
“I didn’t want them to ever feel comfortable at the table, firstly because I didn’t like the gatecrashers as a concept — I prefer the OGs. And secondly because I felt like it was going to impact their cooking, which it did.”
Angus stands by his approach to Zoe
While Angus admitted the episodes may have been difficult for his fiancée to watch, he said he still believes his strategy worked exactly as intended.
The Adelaide cook previously told Chattr that he wanted to unsettle the gatecrashers from the moment they walked through the door, insisting it was all part of his game plan rather than a personal attack.
Even after the polarising dinner party aired, Angus said he wouldn’t change the way he handled the situation, maintaining that everything he said was honest and within the bounds of fair competition.
His fiancée admits she’s been worried watching MKR
Angus has also opened up about his fiancée’s reaction elsewhere, revealing she found it difficult to watch some of his more confrontational moments play out on screen.
Speaking to Woman’s Day, Angus said Taylor had been “stoked” during the early episodes when he was getting along with everyone, but her feelings shifted as the competition heated up.
“She was stoked in the first round because I was so friendly. But she’s starting to get very, very concerned. I’m just trying to say to her, ‘Look, is what I’m saying fair enough?’ She’s like, ‘Yeah, but I don’t really like the way you’re saying it’,” he told Woman’s Day.

He added that while the behaviour wasn’t typical of him, Taylor has continued to support him throughout the series.
“She’s a bit disappointed in me because it’s not really in my nature to have conflict with people. But she’s supporting me anyway,” he shared.
With Angus standing firmly by his strategy and Taylor hoping viewers remember there’s more to him than the heated dinner party moments, it’s safe to say the conversation around Angus and Simon’s controversial MKR run isn’t over yet.
