Depinder Chhibber was eliminated from MasterChef Australia 2025 during the August 4 episode, paving the way for Laura Sharrad, Callum Hann, and Jamie Fleming to secure their spots in the top three.
In a post-elimination interview, Depinder told Chattr that all three contestants are “tremendous cooks,” and broke down Laura, Callum and Jamie’s strengths and weaknesses ahead of the MasterChef Australia grand finale.
“Laura’s biggest strength is a powerhouse Italian cuisine, and she’s got that restaurant experience. She comes from many, many years of experience [cooking] with Australian natives. So I think that is definitely her strength,” Depinder said.
“I don’t know if she has any weaknesses at this point in time, but I think it’s really easy to get carried away with confidence sometimes, because you may think this is the third time in the semi-final and that kind of stuff, but I think she’ll be right. I think she knows how to keep herself in check.”

Depinder went on to only list an advantage for Callum, noting that he’s very experienced at working with a wide range of ingredients.
“Callum is very versatile with his cuisine and with his multiple-element dishes, where he’s got like 10 or more elements. So I think he’s got that advantage. He gets a lot done. He’s very quick, and he works smart, which is what you need at this point,” she said.
Finally, Depinder said that Jamie’s strength could also become a disadvantage if he pushes himself to be too creative.
“Jamie, I think, is really, really talented. I think his strength would be his [innovation]. There’s his classic style of cooking, he’s got a classic style where he imparts a lot of smoke into a protein, and he’s got beautiful side dishes to complement those things. But, he thinks outside of the box more, I think more than Laura and Callum, but that could also be a disadvantage at this point in the competition.”

Depinder added that she was flattered to be cooking alongside the three talented contestants.
