MasterChef Australia 2025 has delivered not only a feast of mouthwatering dishes but also some genuinely sweet friendships, most notably the heartwarming bond between Jimmy Wong and Audra Morrice.
Their close relationship was highlighted when Jimmy was eliminated during the Pressure Test which aired on May 20. As his elimination was announced, the camera panned to Audra, who was in tears.
“I fell in love with him the moment I met him. He’s just such a generous spirit. He’s always smiling, such a wonderful cook. He’s got such natural instincts, and everything comes from his heart. I think he is incredible,” she said.
Now, Jimmy has opened up about the beautiful connection he built with Audra during his time on MasterChef Australia Back to Win 2025.
“It was emotional because it was so heartfelt. Very lucky to have those words from Audra,” Jimmy told Chattr of Audra’s on-screen comment.

“We are such good friends because we share so many similar values when it comes to cooking, really cooking from the heart, and our culture. And it was amazing to hear [that] from her. We’ve become great friends. “
Jimmy explained that he and Audra had met in passing before MasterChef Back to Win filmed, but being on the show together cemented their friendship.
“We met before when she had a book launch and a few other circumstances, like acquaintances, but it wasn’t until this particular season that we really bonded.”
Jimmy added that his and Audra’s friendship is still going strong after the show, and said they keep in touch regularly.
“She is absolutely a beautiful soul. But what’s even more lovely is that we are kind of discovering food in our heritage and our culture together. And it’s so lovely to be able to travel this journey with her.”
Awww!

What’s next for Jimmy after MasterChef Australia Back to Win?
While Jimmy told Chattr he was disappointed to be out of the running early on in the piece, he said he’s excited to continue his career in food outside of the show.
“I love discovering the stories behind food. So through photography, through my collaborations and content creation, I’m able to sort of discover and tell those stories, and that’s what I hope to continue.
Jimmy takes stunning photos of food, which are featured on his Instagram account, as well as his website, Jimmy Wong Eats.

“Post MasterChef is definitely continuing with my food photography and collaborations with some brands,” he added.
“So right now, there are a lot of food brands that I’m working with and I couldn’t ask for anything better, because it allows me to discover all these amazing stories behind food.”
Jimmy will be missed on MasterChef Australia, but we can’t wait to follow his journey outside of the show.
MasterChef Australia airs on Sunday at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 10 and 10Play.
