Victoria Police have launched an investigation into an alleged incident between Married At First Sight (MAFS) golden couple Jeff Gobbels and Rhi Disljenkovic prior to their sudden split, Chattr has exclusively learned.

Police were called to the pair’s Melbourne apartment in the leafy suburb of Glen Iris on June 1 — about 24 hours before they confirmed they’d abruptly ended their romance after two years together, sources said.

The incident left Rhi with what cops have described to Chattr as “minor injuries.”

Jeff, 41, was “interviewed by police but released without charge pending summons”, according to a Victoria Police statement provided to this website.

A police spokesperson said: “Police are investigating an assault in Glen Iris on 1 June.

“Officers were called to the (redacted) residence about 6.30am.

“A woman sustained minor injuries, and a 41-year-old man was interviewed and released pending summons. The parties are known to each other.”

Multiple sources have identified the individuals named in the statement as Jeff and Rhi.

Jeff has appointed Melbourne lawyer Senad Dizdarevic to represent him in the probe.

When asked for comment about what happened in the early hours of the morning in question, Mr. Dizdarevic was tight-lipped but vehemently denied Jeff had done anything wrong.

He told Chattr: “At no stage was my client arrested, charged or detained, and no summons has been issued to him.”

But the emergence of police involvement in the reality television pair’s split provides never-before-known details on the question that had befuddled fans: what happened between Jeff and Rhi.

The couple had been considered one of the rare successful pairings in MAFS history.

Both have stayed mum beyond carefully scripted statements, released simultaneously on social media — and seemingly hours after police attended their apartment.

“With a heavy heart, I want to share that Jeff and I have decided to part ways. This has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make,” Rhi, 36, wrote at the time.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the love we shared and all of the memories we created.”

She concluded: “Thank you to everyone who supported us throughout our relationship and followed along on our journey. Your kindness means more than you know and I appreciate your respect and understanding as we move forward.”

In a similar post, Jeff said: “After a lot of thought, unfortunately, my relationship has ended. This has been an incredibly difficult time, and I’m trying to navigate this as best as I can.

“I’m grateful for the memories and genuine love we shared over the years. Thank you for supporting our relationship, being part of our journey and respecting my privacy during this time.”

Jeff and Rhi were the only original couple still together from the 2025 season of MAFS.

The couple notoriously dated 10 months before meeting again on MAFS and cruising through to their final vows — ultimately ending up living together until this episode involving police.
