MAFS' Jacqui and Clint react to Jeff and Rhi's shock split: 'The truth always gets out'

"Time has a way of revealing what’s real."
Jacqui and Clint from MAFS 2025 react to Jeff and Rhi split

It began with a suss Instagram post from Rhi Disljenkovic then suddenly Jeff Gobbels was no longer following his Married at First Sight (MAFS) match on Instagram.

Within a handful of hours, Rhi had unfollowed Jeff and they had both started deleting pictures of each other off their respective Instagrams. For anyone fluent in social media, this bizarre online activity spelled that the end was clearly nigh for the golden MAFS 2025 couple.

Like clockwork, Rhi and Jeff soon confirmed the split, but notably, they did so in separate Instagram Stories on June 2, 2026.

Rhi’s statement was an emotional one. She said she and Jeff had “decided to part ways” but “with a heavy heart”, calling it “one of the hardest decisions” she’d ever had to make. She added that she was grateful for the love they shared and the memories they created, thanked fans for supporting them, and asked for respect and understanding as they move forward.

Jeff’s statement was shorter and didn’t name Rhi directly. He wrote that, after a lot of thought, “my relationship has ended”, calling it “an incredibly difficult time” that he was trying to navigate as best he could.

He also said he was grateful for the memories and “genuine love” they shared, thanked fans for supporting the relationship, and asked for privacy.

It was a messy end to a messy beginning for the couple, who were matched on the 2025 season of Married at First Sight, only to realise at the altar that they had already dated. Thankfully, they took this in their stride, grew closer each week and quickly became the strongest couple of the season.

Jeff and Rhi were the only couple matched on MAFS 2025 who ended up dating after the experiment ended, but what about Jacqui Burfoot and Clint Rice, a 2025 bride and groom who got together after cameras stopped rolling?

They got engaged in April 2025 and were married in May 2026, and Jacqui and Clint had some thoughts to share with Chattr about being the last couple standing from their season.

Jacqui and Clint from MAFS respond to Jeff and Rhi’s breakup

Jacqui said she doesn’t want to compare the success of her relationship with Jeff and Rhi’s sudden split. “True happiness comes from within, and Clint and I have just been focused on building a life we love. When you’re genuinely content, you don’t need revenge or validation. That’s fact,” she said.

“We have bigger problems to fry and an even bigger future to plan than worrying about what other couples are up to or what people think.”

However, she did add that Rhi and Jeff might not have been as picture-perfect as how they came across on Married at First Sight in 2025. “As for Rhi and Jeff — MAFS edits are not real… they got a very good edit in comparison to what happened,” she said. “Their edit is likely because MAFS needs a success story. But I’ve learned to just let people believe what they want to believe,” Jacqui continued.

“Time has a way of revealing what’s real, and I think we’re all seeing that play out now – and it all links back to the MAFS UK situation – I think a reckoning is coming. I always advise everyone to wait and see. Time tells all. The truth always gets out.”

Jacqui is feeling blessed that she found her person in Clint. “Clint and I are just grateful we found someone genuine and trustworthy (who we could spend the rest of our lives with) out of it all — and we’re having way too much fun travelling, living life and planning a family to look back!”

Clint also shared some reflections with Chattr upon hearing that the former golden couple had called it quits. “It’s never nice seeing people break up, and I hope both Jeff and Rhi are doing okay,” he said.

“What is a little ironic is that some of the same people who were very vocal about labelling Jacqui and I [as] a PR stunt and questioning whether our relationship was real are no longer together themselves.”

Like Jacqui, Clint hinted that the MAFS 2025 stars weren’t who they claimed to be on camera. “There were a lot of comments made towards us that never made it to air, and viewers never saw the side of certain people that we did,” he said.

However, Clint doesn’t plan to dwell on the relationship status of other MAFS couples. “It’s never been about being the last couple standing. You would hope everyone goes into the experiment to find a genuine connection one way or another,” he said.

“The experiment was challenging, and so was recovering from it afterwards. But through all of that, Jacqui and I found something real and built a strong relationship together. We’re now married, building a life together, and that’s what matters most.”
