Another Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 feud has erupted — and this one’s getting spicy. Awhina Rutene has called out fellow bride Jacqui Burfoot for blocking her on social media, accusing her of double standards.
Awhina posted a TikTok trend on May 22 to announce that Jacqui had restricted her on the platform, captioning the video, “Can I still come to the wedding?”.

The short clip had many of Awhina’s followers asking the same question: Why did Jacqui block her? And Awhina has told us the answer.
“I’m still blocked,” she told Chattr. “I don’t hate Jacqui; it was a trend on [TikTok] and relevant because I am blocked.”
“But she blocked me because she called me a mean girl in a post, and I responded with receipts, and then, because I have more credibility, to her, it’s easier to block.”
“In saying that, I don’t want to start an online feud with Jacqui. If I see something I don’t agree with, I’ll reply, but my [TikTok] isn’t really that deep, it was just a trend.”
Awhina was referencing a heated social media exchange between the two brides, which hit a boiling point when she claimed Jacqui should have been matched with her estranged ex, Adrian Araouzou. Jacqui responded by calling Awhina “jealous” of her relationship with Clint Rice.

MAFS’ Awhina responds to Jacqui’s TikTok video about blocking “trolls”
Shortly after Awhina posted on TikTok about being blocked, Jacqui took to the platform to share an ambiguous clip about blocking people to protect her peace.
“It really annoys me about social media is when people are so desperate to get a following that they use your name and try to troll you or criticise you or pick a fight with you just to gain popularity,” she pointedly said.
“At first, I tried to argue. I realised, like, giving them airtime doesn’t serve anyone. They’re a troll, and you shouldn’t be giving them airtime. So then I went to blocking them. And now, when someone tries to engage with me and criticise me, I literally just block trolls,” she added.

When asked about Jacqui’s video, Awhina pointed out that Jacqui was highly active on social media while MAFS was airing, and hosted regular Q&As with her followers about the show.
“Jacqui, for 12 weeks, when no one had social media besides you and my ex, it’s all you did was talk MAFS for traction,” she said, adding: “Pot kettle black.”
