Juliette Chae fronted up to the Married at First Sight (MAFS) Reunion Dinner Party, but she was noticeably missing from the Commitment Ceremony, and Joel Moses has revealed a “deranged” fight that may have played a role.
While Joel believes that Juliette knew she was going to be grilled by the experts at the Commitment Ceremony — which was partly why she avoided the event — he shared that she wasn’t exactly welcomed with open arms from her fellow castmates at the first Reunion event.
“She was at the very end of the dinner table, and she was sitting by herself, just sulking, looking sad and despondent, because no one was talking to her, and then Gia [Fleur] was like, ‘Come on, Juliette, come sit with us,” Joel told Chattr.
Joel explained that Juliette tried to engage with him, but he wasn’t interested, adding that Gia “started stirring the pot a bit” and said a few things that riled Juliette up.
“Then Juliette and I started going at it and screaming at each other, and no one could get a word in, because we’re just screaming at each other… Juliette was saying that I didn’t respect her boundaries. Then I revealed something that happened behind closed doors when she wanted to get a bit frisky, and I said no, and then Juliette actually squared up to me, like face-to-face. I thought she was gonna slap me, dead set.
“She was like, looking at me eye to eye, and I thought she was gonna slap me. I was almost thinking, ‘Do it, do it. It would only benefit me for you to slap me in the face’. But she didn’t do it, which is probably better. But then she just stormed off, and apparently, she was crying in the hallway, like curled up in a ball. She was f**king deranged that night, unhinged, crazy behaviour.”
While the emotional rollercoaster likely played a part in Juliette’s choice not to attend the Commitment Ceremony Reunion, Joel added that he also thinks Juliette didn’t want to face the consequences of her own actions.
“She just didn’t want another f**king savage beat down from the experts. Juliette doesn’t want to be exposed or humiliated. So when she knows that’s coming, or when it has happened, she either doesn’t show up or she storms out. That’s just the pattern of her behaviour.”

Joel believes he and Juliette were meant to have time on the couch with the experts
Joel said he only found out that Juliette had decided to skip the Commitment Ceremony right before they began filming, and added that he believes her absence changed the format of the Commitment Ceremony.
“I think we would have been on the couch if she came, and maybe they substituted Tyson and Stephanie. Tyson and Steph had a really long couch session, and I thought either they were our substitutes or we were going to split half-half, because me and Juliette obviously had some of the biggest moments of the season. So that was a bit disappointing to me,” he said.
Joel said that he wasn’t asked much from the experts at the Reunion, and says he thinks if Juliette chose to attend he would have gotten a chance to properly speak about his experience.
“The experts hardly touched on [my experience], they asked me questions about the cast, but they didn’t even ask me anything about my relationship with Juliette, and how that was for me, which pissed me off, to be honest, because I thought I deserved more.”
However, overall, Joel is happy with how his experience on MAFS played out.
“It’s been a great season for me, so no complaints,” he said. “All in all, super happy how the season went, it’s been an amazing journey.”
