Married at First Sight (MAFS)2026’s Steven Danyluk has opened up about his failed relationship with Rachel Gilmore, sharing that he has ‘massive regret’ over their relationship ending. The groom took to TikTok to share a bizarre apology-like clip and shared his regrets with his followers.
“I just want to be super real and honest with you, and the truth is that things didn’t end the way I hoped. And yeah, there is big regret, massive regret, and I know I’ve lost something special, and I’ve had a lot of time to reflect, to really sit with my actions, my words, and the moments I wish I handled differently,” he began.
“And the truth is, I’d probably give anything up to relive those moments and redo it all, because when something is genuine, you don’t realise how special and rare it is until it’s not there in front of you anymore. And if life ever opened that door again, I know I’d walk it completely differently, with a little bit more clarity, I guess, more patience and a whole lot more appreciation. Some people just don’t pass through your life, and you forget about it the next day.”

Steven added that he is focusing on learning from his mistakes and putting in the work to ensure his own personal growth, but added that there is still a lot of respect between him and Rachel.
“But for now, all I can do is move forward the right way. So lately, that’s, you know, seeing myself and holding myself accountable, being more of aware of how I show up, putting real effort, working on communication and prioritising different things. So now I’ve realised all these wrongdoings, and I’m working on these things, on myself in and out, and have become a better man from it all.”

Married at First Sight Australia’s Steven reveals whether there’s hope for him and Rachel to get back together
Steven gave Chattr an update on where he and Rachel stand, five months on from when the MAFS Reunion wrapped.
“Currently, me and Rachel are broken up, unfortunately, but we are good friends. We’re cordial. Everything is good. We still talk almost every day, and we’re working with each other to get through this and get to the end, and watching it back has been an experience, very emotional,” he told at us at a MAFS Reunion after party.
While many stans are hoping that Steven and Rachel will resolve their differences and try their relationship again, the groom told Chattr that he doesn’t think she’ll give him another shot after what happened after the experiment ended.
“I do have ‘what ifs’ sometimes, but no, there’s not [a chance]. Rachel did say to me on Stan [MAFS: After the Dinner Party] that it’s all over. So that ship is most likely sailed. Sucks, I had my chance, though.”
Why did Rachel and Steven break up?
Along with Filip and Stella, Rachel and Steven were the only other couple to stay together at MAFS 2026 Final Vows. However, by the time the Reunion rolled around a month later, they were already broken up.
The couple danced around the exact reason for their breakup, but appeared to suggest it stemmed from Steven dedicating most of his time to his business, leaving little room for a relationship with Rachel.
In an interview with Daily Mail Australia, Rachel gave a little more clarity, explaining that Steven dumped her right before Final Vows.
“He said, ‘I don’t think I can be the man that Rachel wants me to be,'” she said. “I think deep down he didn’t want the same things… and he didn’t want to hurt me… But ultimately, he did.”
