Gay Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2026 groom Sam Stanton isn’t a fan of Tyson Gordon. While he didn’t attend Tyson’s wedding to Stephanie Marshall, he watched the episode with Australia, and became privy to the Donald Trump supporter’s view on queer relationships. ICYMI, Tyson said that he didn’t want gay men to “come anywhere near” him.
In an interview with Chattr, Sam says if Tyson had said this to his face, he would have responded.
“If somebody said to me, ‘Gays are okay, but only behind closed doors’, I would tell them that’s oppression,” Sam says. “And it’s absolutely not okay for me to feel like I can exist in the world just like anybody else. It’s a massive problem. It’s homophobic, it’s straight out not okay.”
However, the groom is still glad the storyline has been aired on TV.
“I think if these conversations don’t come up, then no one gets to have them, and then no one gets called out for this behaviour either. Then these people exist in the world and get further and further and further down these toxic paths without being called out, without being corrected,” he explains.
Without giving away too much about what’s to come on MAFS, the groom alludes to learning more about Tyson as the show goes on and getting into discussions about topics like these.
“Hopefully, we see Tyson get called out, and then hopefully some people sit at home and watch that and go, ‘Oh sh*t. Maybe I’m wrong with this. Maybe I should relook at this and change my opinion on this.'” Sam points out. “That’s why it’s important to have someone like Tyson on the show.”

MAFS fans slam Tyson after his ‘homophobic’ comments
Once Tyson’s introduction package aired, MAFS fans had a field day online.
“No gay guy is hitting on you, buddy,” one person joked.
“We don’t want him,” another person said.
“I hope the gay couple absolutely decimate him. I also hope he sh*ts his pants when he meets David [Momoh],” a third remarked.
“Thank you Tyson. I already appreciated my boyfriend but now I think he’s a god,” another chimed in.
Sam and Tyson will come face to face at their first Dinner Party, so we will have to see what plays out.
Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 airs Sunday – Wednesday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
