Married at First Sight (MAFS)‘s Gia Fleur’s flirting with her Grass is Greener match James played a major part in her split with Scott McCristal, and a source has revealed to Chattr that she allegedly stayed in touch with him for months after leaving the experiment.
The insider told Chattr that all of the Grass is Greener participants were given their matches’ social details straight after the task and were asked to follow them. They added that after James followed Gia, the pair immediately started texting, while she was with Scott.
“Gia spoke to her backup match, James, the night that they got home from the challenge. He was messaging her on Instagram. Scott knew about it and was fine with it because she sent him a photo of Scott saying, ‘I’m happy, leave me alone,'” they said.
However, the insider claims everything changed once Gia and Scott called it quits, with the messages taking on a very different tone.
“After the breakup, Gia kept messaging James, and she kept in touch with him right up until the show started airing in Feb, so they were in touch for about three months.”
“The messages that James sent were very flirty; he was definitely trying with her, but I’m not sure if she was engaging with him romantically,” they said, adding that while Gia and James were in constant communication, they never actually met up.
Producers told Grass is Greener participants to add their MAFS matches
While it looked to viewers as though Alissa’s match, Conor, went out of his way to track her down on social media, our source reveals that her handle was fed to him by producers.
“I know that the producers gave all of the alternate matches the Instagram handles of the brides, and all of them were asked to add them,” the source tells Chattr.
“So every single alternate match followed the brides on Instagram as soon as the Grass is Greener challenge was over.”
The source went on to say that while the latest MAFS episode makes it look as though Alissa crossed a line with her match, Conor, by adding him on Instagram, nothing happened between the two.
“Alissa and Conor never spoke again after the experiment,” they claim.
Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2026 airs Sunday – Tuesday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
