One of the main storylines on Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 has involved Gia claiming that Danny told her she was more his type than Bec, and Gia has detailed exactly what went down.
Although Danny has repeatedly denied that he said the comment to Gia, she doubled down on her claims in an interview with Chattr and ran through the fateful night blow by blow.
She explained that she was at Bondi bar Icebergs one night during filming with Scott, Brook, Chris, Mel, Luke, Rebecca, Danny and Bec.
“Everyone was a bit loose, a bit drunk. Everyone had split off and gone into their own areas,” she began.
“Essentially, Brook, Danny and I were left at the table at one particular moment. And I said, ‘Are you happy with your match?’ because this was very early on, like two weeks in or something. I said, ‘Are you happy?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, look, you know, I’m pretty happy.’ And I said, ‘Okay, like, is she your type? Like, you know, is that someone you would go for?’ And he said, ‘Well, no, in the real world, I’d probably go for someone who looks more like you.’”
Gia said she didn’t think the comment was a big deal at the time, which is why she didn’t tell Bec straight away.
“Brook and I were pretty gobsmacked at the time, but in saying that we were out with Bec and we were getting along with her, so I was like, well, it’s just not relevant to bring it up if they’re doing okay, let’s just chalk it up to a stupid drunk comment.”
“Who cares? It’s not like he said, Do you want to get my number, or do you want to hook up? It was, it was a throwaway comment…. I don’t think it’s a big deal. But yeah, the way he’s blown it up and going on about it, it’s just insane to me. I don’t know why he doesn’t just admit it.”
Gia says it’s frustrating to see Bec be ‘gaslit’ by Danny on MAFS
Gia said that while she’s not close with Bec, she hates to see the way Danny’s been twisting the situation, and questioning Bec’s loyalty to him for believing Gia when she said he came onto her.
“I’m not friends with Bec, but to see how he’s got her, you know, the Commitment Ceremony, like, ‘Oh, now you need to prove to me that I can trust you, and you need to do this.’”
“And it’s just like, wait a minute, why? I know he said it, so for me, it’s really frustrating to hear him be like that. But I’m like, even if you said it or didn’t say it, why are you doing that to a woman and trying to gaslight her and make her believe she’s now wrong? She’s not wrong. It’s your fault for saying this. Just take accountability.”
While Gia’s disgust of Danny is pretty plain to see, she stressed to Chattr that he’s “absolutely not” her type.
“I’m so happy I’m in a relationship, I’m stoked with my life. I couldn’t give a shit about [him].”
