The leaked text scandal exposed Bec Zacharia and Gia Fleur for making vile comments about Alissa Fay and David Momoh behind their backs, but it’s Bec who’s copped the majority of the backlash on Married at First Sight (MAFS), while Gia has slipped through relatively unscathed.
While Bec, Gia and former participant Brook were all involved in the tirade against Alissa and David, David told Chattr that Bec is copping the most heat because she was the one who initially badmouthed Alissa to the wider group.
“From my understanding, Gia first heard anything negative about Alissa from Bec, so I’m pretty sure it all started with Bec bringing Alissa’s name up anyway, and then, obviously Gia ran with it, and then it just became this massive hate against Alissa, but someone had to start the rumours or the talking, and I think Bec was the instigator,” David explained.
While David said he believes Bec was the one who initially turned the other women against Alissa, he told Chattr he’s annoyed with everyone who participated in the horrible messages.
“I’m definitely upset at Gia, and I just see them as both as bad as each other at this point, because, you know, it takes two to tango, especially on their camp. They’re both coming for each other, but then they’re dragging everyone else in the experiment with them. It’s just annoying.”
He added that while his TV wife, Alissa, has given both of the women multiple chances through the experiment, he’s been done with them since he first found out Bec was trying to dig up dirt on Alissa.
“I was done with them the first time they crossed the line. I feel like the only reason I associated with them was that Alissa wanted to, I guess, mend the friendship.”
“But for me, personally, just in the real world, when people do wrong once, there’s a quote, see evil in no one, but once you see it, forget it not. And that’s just what I live by.”
Alissa stresses that Gia doesn’t get away ‘scot-free’ over the texts
Alissa revealed that Juliette sent her a screenshot of the texts, which Gia had sent to her. She explained that the screenshots didn’t just have the things Bec wrote, but implicated Gia, too.
“I could see what Gia was saying, because there were screen grabs. She wasn’t kind at all, but not as vicious as Bec. But it doesn’t excuse her bad behaviour…. She was being vulgar, just as vile,” Alissa told Chattr.
While so far it may appear that Bec has gotten a lot of backlash over the messages, Alissa teased that Gia will get her comeuppance.
“I’m definitely upset with Gia as well… She’s definitely not going to get away scot free. Trust me, she’s coming for her. It’s coming,” she said.
Alissa added that while the leaked messages about her were ‘vicious’ and ‘vile’, she assumes that even worse things have been said about her in the group chat behind her back.
“There would definitely be worse things, and I do not want to see them. I’ve had enough,” she said.
Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 airs Sunday – Wednesday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
