MAFS' Joel says Danny was the 'MVP of that Dinner party' for defending him (and his teddy)

"That's when our bond started."

The fourth Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 Dinner Party saw an unsuspecting Joel ripped to shreds by his TV wife, Juliette — partly for the shocking act of sleeping with a teddy bear — before Danny stepped in to defend him.

Juliette’s campaign to tear Joel down started with a false accusation that he claimed he was the “star” of MAFS, something she later admitted she misheard during Stan’s After The Dinner Party. While laying into Joel in front of all of his castmates, Juliette poked fun at Joel for sleeping with a teddy bear, and his masculinity was called into question, which was when Danny stepped in and defended Joel and his adorable teddy bear.

“I don’t think it’s fair to attack someone’s manhood cause he has a teddy,” Danny said. “I think it’s brave to be a 30-year-old man and admit you’ve got a teddy.”

Danny went on to point out that “you could actually argue that he’s more masculine than us because he’s not scared of his masculinity and he has a teddy.”

In a post-Dinner Party interview with Chattr, Joel said he was grateful when Danny jumped in to defend him, revealing that they hadn’t had much to do with each other before then.

“Danny is a G. That man is a proper G. He f**king stands up for his mates. That’s what he does. That’s when our bond started, like we weren’t even that close then. But after that, after that moment, I knew, Danny’s as solid as f**k. I was so happy that someone backed me up, because no one was backing me,” he said.

“Danny was the MVP of that dinner party… [he] delivered when it mattered last night.”

Joel believes Juliette ‘enjoyed’ humiliating him at the MAFS Dinner Party

Watching the dinner party back last night, Joel said he was shocked to see Juliette looking smug in her producer-led interviews about him.

“[The] thing that was even more disturbing was how she seemed to enjoy [coming for me]. It was almost sadistic. She enjoyed enacting cruelty on me, like it was actually scary, to be honest. Genuinely, people spoke to me after, and they said, ‘She frightens me,” he said.

“I think Juliette derived pleasure in inflicting pain on me in front of everyone.”

Joel added that despite Juliette’s attempted apology tour in the press this morning, he believes she’s more sorry about the backlash she’s received than the way she treated him.

“Juliette is not a person who has any capability of feeling remorse or empathy, period,” he said. “I don’t believe a word that comes out of Juliet’s mouth, because every word that comes out of her mouth is empty and hollow and fake and insincere.”

Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 airs Sunday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
