Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2026 couple Chris Robinson and Sam Stanton previously seemed to be one of the strongest pairs, but that’s come crashing down. After Chris announced his plan for Sam to move to Sydney after the experiment, Sam said he was unhappy this plan was made without his input. Chris seemed defensive, things got heated, and they’re going into the next Dinner Party without seeing eye-to-eye.
However, Chris tells Chattr there was a key unseen moment that would have changed the way viewers saw the situation. “Did you notice that my date with Rachel [Gilmore] wasn’t shown?” he asks. “On the date with Rachel, I kind of poured my heart out and said I didn’t feel like Sam was taking an invested interest in my fatherhood journey. He had only asked me about the children once.
“I actually broke down and cried with Rachel in my one-on-one date. So I’m a little confused as to why they didn’t show my date with Rachel, because that probably would have given a bit more context as to why I reacted the way I did.”
Chris adds that he was missing out on the pregnancy of the mother of his child, so the “pressure” of MAFS was starting to get to him. When he came back to his shared apartment with Sam, he was immediately thrown into a heated discussion where accusations were thrown around.
“They’ve left out a whole chunk of why I was acting the way I did,” Chris claims. “I was already emotional. I was already deregulated a little bit. I was feeling the pressure. It just kind of, didn’t help the situation,” he says.

Sam drops a bombshell on Chris before the MAFS Dinner Party
According to Chris, the issue was dropped prior to the MAFS Dinner Party, and everything seemed to be going swimmingly.
“Sam and I had spent a few days together in Sydney and then we went back to the apartments where we spent a night together, and [this issue wasn’t] mentioned,” he says.
It seems as though the disagreement resurfaces during the Dinner Party episode as a way of creating drama.
“A bit of a bombshell is dropped on me five minutes before entering the Dinner Party. I’ll leave it up to as whether that was production or not, but in the real world, it wouldn’t have happened like that,” the groom says.
“I felt like this issue that Sam and I had… we could move on from that… but it unfortunately comes up again.”
Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 airs Sunday – Wednesday this week on Channel 9 and 9Now.
