MAFS 2026 sam chris fight move sydney

Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2026 couple Chris Robinson and Sam Stanton are currently at a stalemate, but there’s one conversation between the pair viewers didn’t see. Sam is currently annoyed at Chris for blindsiding him with a plan for their future after the experiment, which would see Sam moving to Sydney for their relationship. However, Chris tells Chattr this was originally a suggestion made by Sam.

“What’s actually not shown is that Sam said he wanted to move to Sydney or the Gold Coast. So that’s why I kind of said what I said,” Chris explains.

“I feel like my comments or what I said to Mel and the experts, was just a suggestion. It wasn’t like a set-in-stone plan. I did think it was kind of cute that I was thinking of life outside the experiment.”

Chris says he did apologise when Sam first brought up how he felt, and while he felt like he was approaching the situation in a calm manner, he was called “defensive” which didn’t feel great.

“There was definitely a struggle with our communication. And you know, maybe our communication styles are a little bit different, but I also wanted him to empathise with me a little bit as well,” Chris says.

However, the groom does admit he should have thought about how Sam moving to another state was a big deal, even though it was originally Sam’s idea.

“I probably underestimated the impact of Sam packing up his life and moving to Sydney, especially for me, being a donor dad as well. So yeah, for my part, there could have been probably a little bit more time and thought into the conversation and a bit more empathy,” Chris adds.

The groom also mentions that he could see a future with Sam, but was concerned that Sam wasn’t interested in becoming a father. “I didn’t feel like Sam was taking an invested interest in my fatherhood journey. He had only asked me about the children once,” he notes.

Chris thought his plan with Sam outside of MAFS was ‘cute’

When Chris proudly announced that Sam could move to Sydney after the experiment, he wasn’t expecting any blowback.

“It came from a place of love, and it came from a place of just being cute and thinking outside the, after the experiment,” he says.

“I said to him, ‘Oh look, it’s all good like it doesn’t matter. We ecan just see how things work out after the experiment, and then we can sort out the living situation’.”

However, it doesn’t look like this fight is going to blow over, with Sam dropping a “bombshell” on Chris during the Dinner Party. It looks like this might be the end of the road for Chris and Sam.

Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 airs Sunday – Wednesday this week on Channel 9 and 9Now.
