Married at First Sight’s (MAFS) Chris Robinson has received backlash since a clip aired of him on Stan’s After The Dinner Party making a snide remark about his TV husband Sam Stanton living in a share house. However, he’s since changed his tune, admitting in an interview with Chattr that he currently has a housemate.

During an unseen clip which aired on After the Dinner Party, Gia and Chris were shown belittling Sam behind his back at the most recent Dinner party.

“I do have a farm, and I do have a property in Sydney. I’m sorry, babe, like you share accommodation with you and three other people won’t pay for dinner,” Chris said in a producer-led interview.

In retrospect, Chris told Chattr that he regrets his remark insulting Sam for being in a share house, and said it was “just a silly comment”.

“The thing is… I have a housemate as well. I’ve just had someone move into my farm with me. So the share house accommodation thing, yeah, it was just a silly moment in time,” he explained. “One of my best mates has moved into the farm with me. So I’m really in no position to be saying anything about share accommodation.”

Chris did a complete backflip on his earlier stance, admitting his comments were out of line.

“I don’t think it’s bad to live in a sharehouse. I think it was an elitist, silly thing of me to say. And I’ve also just got a housemate as well who’s moved into the farm with me. So no, it’s not, it’s not cringe at all, all my lot of my friends are in shared accommodations. It’s not a big issue.”

Chris was blindsided by Sams’ choice to discuss their fight at the MAFS Dinner Party

Chris told Chattr he was shocked Sam aired their ongoing argument about where they’d live after the experiment to the other participants at the Dinner Party.

“I wish that he could have had this conversation with me in private instead of [this], and potentially he could have brought it up at the Dinner Party again for some therapy, but to have it thrown on me five minutes before entering… seemed a little bit calculated to do it in front of the whole group.”

Chris added that he was really hurt by Sam’s actions, and is worried about the effect it will have on their potential future together.

“I was really falling for Sam. It was definitely a real relationship, and I was trying my absolute hardest to make it work,” Chris spilled.

“It felt like a dagger to the heart… at the time, I did find [his actions] a little bit cruel.”

Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 airs Monday – Thursday at 7:30pm this week on Channel 9 and 9Now.
