It's all very dramatic.

Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2026’s Chris Robinson says he was blindsided and shocked by Sam Stanton airing out their dirty laundry during the Dinner Party.

Adding fuel to the fire was when Sam described Chris’ behaviour as “gaslighting”. After reflecting on that dramatic night, Chris isn’t holding back and tells Chattr Sam acted differently when he was on camera.

“Sometimes with Sam, I didn’t know where I stood, especially more so off camera. When there were cameras there, it seemed all great, but then off camera, sometimes I just didn’t know where I stood with him or I didn’t feel like I could come and say to him, ‘Hey, like why aren’t you hanging out with me?’. These types of things,” Chris says.

The groom thinks Sam’s actions during the Dinner Party were “cruel” and unnecessary, and would have liked more notice that their personal lives were about to be dissected. “It makes me feel awful, to be honest. It’s a horrendous feeling. And it’s not only in front of the whole group, it’s in front of all of Australia,” Chris notes.

“I wish that he could have had this conversation with me in private instead of [this], and potentially he could have brought it up at the Dinner Party again for some therapy, but to have it thrown on me five minutes before entering… seemed a little bit calculated to do it in front of the whole group.”

Why did this fight with Sam affect Chris so much?

According to Chris, the groom was starting to envision a future with Sam outside of MAFS, so he was really upset with the conflict that happened during the Dinner Party.

“I was really falling for Sam. It was definitely a real relationship, and I was trying my absolute hardest to make it work,” Chris spills.

“It felt like a dagger to the heart… at the time, I did find [his actions] a little bit cruel.”

The couple will be going into the next Commitment Ceremony on Sunday to make a decision about their future, and Chris warns it won’t be pretty.

“It’s definitely shaky waters for Sam and I going into the Commitment Ceremony,” he teases. “We’re not really sure how it’s going to pan out.”

Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 airs Sunday – Wednesday this week on Channel 9 and 9Now.
