Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 may have just kicked off, but we already have word that one of the grooms will be leaving the show in a matter of weeks.

Chris Nield wasn’t well received by viewers after announcing in her audition tape, which played during the premiere episode of MAFS 2026, that “fake tan, needy and fat people” turn him off. Fortunately for those fans, according to the MAFSFunny podcast, Chris and his fatphobic values won’t last long in the experiment.

“Well, the good news for you is, and again, spoiler alert, he’s not going to be on the show for very long, I think two weeks at best,” podcast host Josh Fox said.

Chris will be marrying model Brook Compton on the popular reality show, and Josh said that Brook didn’t exactly warm to her new husband.

“I’m not going to go into the exact specifics now or spoil too far ahead… But what I will say is, regardless, like what we may watch over the next week of him and his wife, I think they first hit it off at the honeymoon, trust me when I say, it doesn’t last long, she sees straight through him. And there is a big thing that happens. And at one point she was like, ‘Nope, see ya’. And yeah, [she] flew home, but then she came back.”

Josh added that after she came back, another “big thing that happened off camera, that basically changed everything, and he was made to leave within 48 hours of that thing happening.”

Viewers react to MAFS’ Chris’s fat-phobic comments

Viewers slammed Chris online after he made the comment about “fat people” being a turn-off in his audition tape, and he later doubled down on the claims, once again claiming that he’d never date a ‘fat’ person at the MAFS Bucks party.

“Can I just pop Chris on my s**t list already?” One person wrote immediately after the segment aired.

“Chris needs to worry about that hairline he’s trying to hide more than other people’s bodies,” another wrote, while a third penned: “Chris fell out of the douchebag tree and hit every branch on the way down.”

“I’m 8 mins into MAFS, and Chris is a f**kwit. 8 mins,” another wrote.

Based on the online response, it’s safe to say Chris’s exit probably won’t be mourned by many viewers.

MAFS 2026 airs Monday – Thursday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
