In an Instagram Live with former Married at First Sight (MAFS) bride Awhina Rutene on Sunday, Bec Zacharia showed the world her wedding dress for the wedding that never was. As we know, Bec was engaged previously and broke off the engagement before the big day.

Showing off the dress to camera, Bec said “it’s got, like, 10,000 pearls sewn into the lace, and these gigantic flowers sewn into the bottom.”

Bec says in the video that the garment cost $20k. That’s a lot to spend on a wedding dress, but I guess we shouldn’t be surprised, given that the bride spoke several times of owning a $3 million Adelaide house with a $97k mortgage.

“The designer is Marchesa,” she adds, “so, Harvey Weinstein’s ex-wife.” Not a great association to have on your wedding day — maybe it’s for the best that it didn’t go ahead!

Where did Bec get her wedding dress?

In the video, Bec said that she bought her $20k wedding dress from a bridal shop called The Wedding Club. The shop is in London, where Bec mentions that she lived at the time.

“My grandmother, she was on Zoom with my auntie and my cousin when I bought it,” she added. “My mother, she was with me in London with my ex mother-in-law,” she added.

She explained that the dress has sentimental value for her because her grandmother bought it for her. “I might sell it,” she said. “I don’t know.”

Bec also spilled details of her engagement ring

Bec says her engagement ring was an “almost perfect diamond”, adding “I think it was 1.5, 1.6 carats with a halo of diamonds around it and all around the band as well.”

“But when I broke up with my fiancé,” Bec said, “I did the right thing, and I gave it back to him.”

Bec adds that as she was the one who ended the relationship, she thought the right thing to do was to return the ring to him.

Why did Bec break up with her fiancé?

When Awhina asked why she ended up breaking up with her fiancé, Bec gushed, “He was a beautiful human being.”

She went on to say that the two were ultimately very different people. “I liked to socialise and go out and he was just a homebody,” the MAFS bride explained.

“I could see myself marrying him, but I could see myself getting divorced.”

MAFS 2026 airs Sunday – Tuesday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
