Gia Fleur made a last-minute appearance at last night’s Married At First Sight (MAFS) Dinner Party, but not without some coaxing from Bec Zacharia, who has given us the scoop on what went down behind the scenes.

As we saw, the two had a bathroom exchange where Bec encouraged Gia to attend the Dinner Party and “out-victim” Scott, who currently has the audience on his side after his response to the Grass is Greener task.

“So basically, In between the Cocktail Party and the Dinner Party we are all separated into tents,” Bec reveals. “I’m with my husband, Danny, in a tent, and Gia was separate from me. She refused to go to the Dinner Party.”

“She locked herself in the bathroom, even though she had her own tent, and the producers came to get me and said she’s not coming. She’ll only go into the Dinner Party if you come to speak to her.”

“I was like, OK, I’ll go in and speak to her. She was saying to me, ‘no, no, no, I’m not going. I’m not going.’ And I sat there and said to her, ‘Babe, pretty much A: So she could get her a into the Dinner Party, because I knew everyone had left, and B: To get her in there and cry a little bit.”

Bec explains why she encouraged Gia to ‘out-victim’ Scott

After telling Gia it would be “great” if she could cry, Bec raised a few eyebrows from viewers, who wondered why she was playing producer.

To that, Bec says: “Gia’s been so hard. She’s never cried on camera. She seems like such a hard c**t. And like in the days leading up to this, she was, like, on the phone with Danny and I crying her eyes out, being like, ‘I love him. I love him.'”

“But then, like when she walked into that cocktail party, she was so hard, and then she refused to go. I knew that she’d written this like letter, which was quite vulnerable, and so I said to her, come out there… if it’s not about Scott, let’s make it about Australia, and at least show a bit of your emotion.”

Bec says that while she may have sounded like a “f**king asshole”, at the end of the day, she “just wanted to get back into the Dinner Party”, especially since it was the last one.

Gia says producers wanted her at the final Dinner Party

In last night’s episode of MAFS: After The Dinner Party, Gia also confirmed that MAFS producers wanted her to return to the Dinner Party to “confront Scott”.

“I either wanted closure or another chance,” she said on the show. I didn’t know how it was going to pan out.” Responding to the question of whether her wish was to get back with Scott, Gia responded, “Yep, 100 percent. At the time.”

She says Bec had been supporting her wanting to get back with Scott. “I had Bec telling me he’s at the gym with Danny and there’s probably a shot there.”

Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 airs Sunday – Wednesday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
