The wild amount MAFS stars get paid for club appearances

MAFS club appearances

Just because all good reality seasons have to come to an end eventually, it doesn’t mean the good times have to stop rolling. By now, it’s common knowledge that when shows like Married At First Sight (MAFS) finish up on our screens, we don’t have to hunt too far to find our favourite MAFS stars… they may just be at a nearby nightclub.

Former nightclub owner Danny Grant recently uploaded a TikTok saying the club fee for MAFS talent was around the $3,000 mark. He told Chattr that the “lion’s share” of the fee normally goes to the “hook talent”. So basically, not everyone is paid equally!

“The lion’s share is given to the hook talent, who is normally one of the breakout stars of the show, [or the] most controversial or most popular, and then supported by smaller ones,” he said. “Traditionally, as a promoter, you are buying the top talent and you are forced to take the smaller ones in a group deal. They get a smaller fee, or they just come along for the ride.”

Danny also said the fee division was usually decided “by the agent representing them.”

A former MAFS contestant also confirmed to Chattr that the cost was usually around the $3,000 mark. “$3,000 for an appearance of 90-120 minutes,” they said. “Some of the better clubs pay less, like $1500-$2,000. But mostly it’s a set $3,000 for 90 minutes.”

The highest of highs and lowest of lows: from thousands of dollars to a bottle of vodka

Danny told Chattr that the most he’s heard MAFS stars be paid for a club appearance was around the “$6,000-8,000” mark in places like Darwin. “The lowest was a bottle of vodka and some free entries,” he said.

He said after two to three months “the well dries up” and the budget to book the stars diminishes as their “15 minutes” wears off.

“Normally they will continue to get free entry or a bottle of vodka, if they have amassed good followers from the show,” he said. “Otherwise it’s to the back of the line, once the 15-minute wears off. The good talent keep momentum and maybe step into different spaces, but the club appearance stuff is no longer relevant once the buzz of the show wears off.”
