Ahead of the I’m a Celebrity Australia 2026 premiere, Robert Irwin and Julia Morris have revealed that the upcoming season will focus less on trivial drama and more on real connections between the campmates.

In previous seasons, we’ve seen explosive conflict between campmates, including *that* showdown between MAFSDomenica Calarco and Kerri-Anne Kennerley.

However, Julia Morris told TV Week that this year’s cast has been deliberately chosen to prioritise real conversations and emotional openness over conflict, telling the publication that they’ve stepped away from casting “contentious people who are just in for a fight”.

“It becomes more about the human spirit and making a little micro-community where people can talk about subjects that are important to them,” she added.

“They’re so far out of anything that resembles a comfort zone that they seek comfort in each other. About a week in, they all start to really trust each other – and that’s when they trust Australian viewers, and they open up about stories they probably would never talk about in an interview.”

Robert Irwin reveals big changes are coming to I’m a Celebrity Australia 2026

Despite the possible lack of drama, viewers can still expect I‘m a Celebrity Australia 2026 to be jam-packed full of entertainment.

He told TV Week that Season 12 is “doubling down” on the number of trials and making them even more intense than previous years.

“It’s just one thing to the next,” he explained.

“There’s this new element, this new part of the camp aspect that is really going to test them to a point they’ve never been tested before.”

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here Australia 2026 premieres on January 18 on Channel 10 and 10Play.
