Some fans have complained that this year’s crop of celebrities on I‘m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia 2026 are, well, anything but. Some have singled out comedian Nath Valvo, wondering how he managed to end up in the jungle.
New Idea has just revealed that Channel 10 were after a much higher profile star to take part in terrifying trials, Nath’s co-star Kate Langbroek. The popular TV and radio host has had a long career, and isn’t completely opposed to reality TV — she hosted My Mum, Your Dad and also competed on Dancing With The Stars in 2006.
However, when she received the call from the network, Kate made a big suggestion.
“She rang the casting director back,” a production source told the publication. “Kate was like, ‘If you want someone funny, someone quick, someone the audience will fall in love with? You need Nath.'”
According to the insider, the network was hoping to replicate the success with Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes, considering Kate and Hughesy are good friends and co-workers.
“They absolutely wanted Kate. She’s recognisable, she’s loved, she’s got that everyday Aussie energy and she’d be great TV,” they claimed. “She didn’t want to follow the exact same path as Hughesy. She didn’t want it to feel predictable.”

According to the production source, Kate adores Nath and hopes I’m A Celeb will help him gain more fans and followers. “She genuinely adores him and thinks he should be a much bigger star,” they said.
“It wasn’t subtle… she persuaded them.”
Fans have quickly begun to change their tune about Nath, with many complimenting him on his quick wit and bubbly nature.
“What a load of fun he is. I like him. He impressed me with his knowledge of most of the celebrities, especially the older ones,” one fan said.
“He was actually funny! The line, ‘I do like a man in a harness’ sent me,” another added.
“I would [have] paid big money to be camping with Nath,” a third chimed in.
