One of the best parts of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia is its hosts: especially the easy banter between hosts Robert Irwin and Julia Morris. We were lucky enough to speak with host Julia Morris, who gave us all of the goss about the 2026 season, including her amazing relationship with Robert, as well as whether or not their banter on the show is scripted.

“We have a very similar sense of humour,” Morris tells Chattr about her younger co-host, adding that both she and Robert are also just really in love with the show. “I think literally, any human being that goes into the jungle, whatever we think we know about them,” she says, “we certainly know a lot more about who they are and what they stand for and whether we align with them.”

When asked about how much of the pair’s banter is improvised and how is scripted, Julia reckons the breakdown is about 50-50. “The script writer is a genius, and honestly makes me look a lot more clever than I am,” she admits, “he sets up the most beautiful jokes. And lots of physical jokes, which were really good fun.” Yes, who could forget this season’s excellent cliffhanger gag!

Julia Morris addresses criticism that I’m A Celebrity doesn’t cast big enough names

Julia also spoke glowingly about Robert’s love of the animals on set, stating that “conservation is the blood that runs through him.” Speaking of the show’s Viper Room challenge, where celebrities lie in a snake pit, she says that Robert is careful to look after the snakes. “There’s no way he could let a little snake be there and not be like… ‘oh, I just wanted to meet him’,” she laughs, pointing out there’s something “incredibly Robert” about the animals on set taking priority.

Touching on criticism that I’m A Celebrity doesn’t cast enough recognisable names, Julia says: “If you don’t know a celebrity, ask another generation. Because I can guarantee you they will”. She adds that the many generations on the show are part of its charm. “Just like our normal lives around the water cooler. I want to hear an older voice. I want to hear a younger voice. I want to hear a female voice… we definitely get to see that all sorts of cohesion is possible with patience and using a bit of kindness.”

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here Australia 2026 airs Sunday – Wednesday on Channel 10 and 10Play.
