I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant Deni Hines seemed to hate being in the jungle from day one. She clashed with other campmates, such as Cyrell Paule and Nath Valvo, and repeatedly said she didn’t like being around other people. So why did she wait until day five to quit?
According to the MAFS Funny podcast, there’s a “secret rule” all the contestants know about. “Apparently in the contract… every celebrity has to last at least 72 hours if they want to receive their full pay So that’s kind of why Deni lasted this long,” host Joshua Fox claimed.
“What I’m told is Deni wanted to quit [on] day one. She’s never watched I’m A Celebrity, she didn’t really know what she was getting herself into and she didn’t particularly like anybody in the camp.”
Joshua also claimed that producers will often try and convince celebrities not to quit, with potential bribes on the line. “Producers will often talk them out of it… give them a few extra ciggies, put them in the producer booth to cool down,” he said. “What I’m also told [is] that by the time Deni decided [to leave], they were kind of happy for her to go, because her storylines had kind of been exhausted.”
The podcast host noted that I’m A Celeb is meant to be more low-key than MAFS, as many people tune in to watch challenges rather than just drama and fights. So while Deni was good entertainment for a few episodes, it was time to go.
“I’m also told there’s a lot of fights and arguments, especially with Cyrell, that didn’t make it to TV… she just did not want to be there. She didn’t like anyone, they didn’t like her. Producers had kind of said yeah, your storylines are done, so off she went,” he added.

Deni Hines is only the seventh person to leave I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia by uttering that exact phrase.
After Deni’s team lost the green versus yellow challenge, she threw in the towel.
“It’s got nothing to do with you at all. I love all of you dearly, but I have decided to go home,” she said.
“I haven’t been able to go to the toilet for six days, I don’t feel good about that. I would rather do a poo in the jungle, but, unfortunately, we are in a National Park, so I can’t, and I refuse to sit in that long drop.”
