Farmer Wants A Wife: Meet Jason, an ex-heavyweight boxer and 'big softie'

A boxer and pilates princess? The range.

Farmer Jason Tessmann is throwing his cowboy hat in the ring on Farmer Wants a Wife (FWAW), totally ready to risk it all (and date a bunch of amazing sheilas) for true love.

At 37, this Queensland dairy Farmer has had his heart broken before, but he’s staying optimistic about finding the real deal.

He’s one of five Farmers taking a massive leap of faith this season, and if his teaser is anything to go by, sparks are definitely flying, especially between Farmer Jason and one brunette contestant.

Hosted by Natalie Gruzlewski, the sixteenth season, produced by Eureka Productions for Seven Network, will feature five Farmers looking for love.

Here is the lowdown on Farmer Jason and what he is looking for.

What does Farmer Jason do for work?

Jason is a fifth-generation dairy farmer out in Coolabunia, Queensland. He actually bought the property straight from his family to keep the legacy going strong.

When he isn’t busy running the farm, he keeps himself pretty active.

These days, you can find him playing netball or hitting up reformer pilates (yes, a pilates princess in our midst!), which is a bit of a change of pace from his past life as a passionate rugby player for the Kingaroy Red Ants (which he had to call quits on after racking up three knee reconstructions).

Oh, and fun fact: according to the Courier Mail, he used to be a heavyweight boxer, too! And that’s called range!

Does Farmer Jason have kids?

Yes. Jason is a proud dad to an 11-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter. He freely admits he’s a “big softie” who wants to find someone to grow his family with.

“I just love being a dad, and I would like to have more if I can,” he explained. “I just love seeing the joy on their faces, and I couldn’t imagine my life without that.”

What is Farmer Jason looking for in a partner?

He is a happy-go-lucky guy who doesn’t take himself too seriously, but he is incredibly loyal to his inner circle.

“My friends would say I have a big heart and am incredibly loyal to the people I care about,” he said.

Lately, his biggest roadblock has been finding someone ready to commit to his country lifestyle.

“I’ve been unlucky in love, been with someone and finding out they want something different in life,” he shared. “You think, are you good enough, or is there something wrong with me? I’ve got a big heart. Gotta find the right one to give it to.”

Finding a partner who genuinely wants to embrace the farm life is a massive priority for him. “I don’t expect my partner to move straight away because I know it’s hard to leave your family and friends, but I’d like someone who is open to doing it,” he admits

And as for his type? “I am a sucker for a beautiful smile,” he said. “I’m drawn to people who are confident in themselves, outgoing, and open to trying new things, but who also know how to relax and not take life too seriously.”

Ready to put his heart back on the line, Jason is hoping to meet someone who is “fun, bubbly, and kind-hearted, with a good sense of humour and a positive outlook on life”.

Farmer Jason is joined this season by Farmer Jarrad, an almond farmer from Taylorville, South Australia; Farmer Dylan, a sheep farmer and competitive rodeo cowboy from Cherry Gardens, South Australia; Farmer Alex, a cattle and mushroom farmer from Kin Kin, Queensland; and Farmer Zac, an apple orchardist from Forest Range, South Australia. Giddy up!

Farmer Wants a Wife (FWAW) 2026 airs on Channel 7 and 7Plus soon.
