Holly Young was one of the most well-known Big Brother Australia housemates prior to going in as a contestant, with over 100K followers on Instagram and a successful modelling career. There have been consistent rumours about her being an “industry plant”, and one fan who attended the Big Brother Australia finale pointed out an interesting detail.
“I know there’s been speculation as well as mysterious ‘behind-the-scenes’ staff alluding to the fact that Holly was known by production and assisting them (all alleged),” the fan wrote on Reddit. “But I couldn’t help but notice how chummy she was with producers and even the voice of Big Brother (last pic). I need to stress that these weren’t just ‘hi and byes’, she spent a considerable amount of time talking with them, which no other housemate did.
“Obviously she was there for Colin’s eviction but given that Conor and Ed were the only other evicted housemates there, it does make you wonder why Vinnie wasn’t there while Holly was, despite being evicted after her.”
The Big Brother Australia fan noted that Conor also interacted with the crew, but it wasn’t as extensive as Holly’s conversations. “She basically spent most of her time in the back working the room… it wasn’t the same [as Conor],” they explained.
The Redditor also included three photos of Holly looking close with the production crew from the Big Brother Australia finale.

Big Brother Australia fans divided over Holly’s relationship with production
Many Big Brother Australia fans agreed with the theory that Holly was “chummy” with production, with one saying: “She knows them all! And they definitely poached her, it was all a publicity stunt. On the live when Holly was getting a lot of negative attention they wouldn’t show her on the camera, she would walk into a room [and] bam, camera change. It was so highly edited what we saw even on live.”
“If you don’t think Holly got special treatment inside that house you’re delusional,” another added.
However, others pointed out that since Holly works in the modelling industry it makes sense she was trying to network for future opportunities.
“Holly is a schmoozer; she has to be to succeed in her industry and so that all tracks,” one pointed out.
“She has a 115K following on Instagram, and is heavily in the entertainment industry as an influencer and model, so of course she is going to be chummy with production since it’s a good networking opportunity for her. Maybe even production knows they could benefit with networking with her, as she has international connections in America and Europe,” another wrote.
“She’s being polite. I really hope you people go touch grass now that [Big Brother Australia] is over,” a third chimed in.
We’ll see what happens next, but our money’s on Holly joining another Australian reality TV show in the not-too-distant future.
