Adam Hyde aka Keli Holiday aka one half of Peking Duk has opened up about writing his song ‘Dancing2’ for his girlfriend, beloved reality TV queen Abbie Chatfield.

Since releasing the song, it’s become a viral hit on TikTok and Instagram, and also landed the number one spot on the ARIA singles chart.

An homage to his girlfriend Abbie Chatfield, Adam told Rolling Stone Australia that the song was about “meeting a love that seemed a world away”.

“There’s so much noise and distraction going on constantly as two single people in whatever business you want to call that we’re in,” he explained. “There are people in and out of our lives at different times, trying to find what we are, and just journeying through life in our own way. We were both just dancing through the show as we all are. There was a definitive moment when we decided to connect with each other on an unspoken battlefield and we have been dancing together ever since.”

While Abbie originally uploaded her own reaction to hearing ‘Dancing2’, Adam appeared on The Today Show earlier to spill about the moment he showed her the song for the first time.

“Initially it was a love letter that I had written for her, then I had written a beat. I always write her love songs and poems. But this one was very different, because I was like, this means something, you know?” Adam said.

“And I remember playing it for her, for the very first time, and I was… not terrified, but I was like, look I could go say a whole spiel about it, or I could just play it. And fast forward a minute, and she was just a beautiful mess on the ground.”

He then said the song ended, and Abbie just wanted him to play it again.

“We played it like, three times back-to-back, and she was just weeping. She got it, she got the message in it, she understood that it was a direct love letter,” he said. “I think those kind of things, that’s bigger than music.”

“I think she’s the most intelligent, beautiful light,” he continued.

Fans of the pair loved seeing the sneak peek into the song and their lives. “Definitely a catchy tune and a lovely story behind the song. Here’s to dancing,” one person commented, with another saying, “He is so lovely! And such a great song.”

Well, it appears as though the bar has finally been lifted off the ground, ladies. About time!
