Australia’s favourite couple, G Flip and Chrishell Stause, got more than they bargained for after accidentally causing a stir with a social media post. Chrishell shared a cute photo of herself with G Flip from the ARIA Awards on Instagram with a simple caption: “More photos to come! But it’s date night for mum and dad.”
Some of Chrishell’s fans quickly took to the comments and asked if the pair were expecting a baby. The Selling Sunset star posted a video in response to clear up the pregnancy rumours, as well as talking about G Flip using they/them pronouns.
“I might be, you know, maybe the only gay person some of you follow. And so I actually think that that’s lovely, and I don’t mind being that person… I wanna kind of be a bridge to the other side,” Chrishell said.
“I’m sorry for anyone that thought that was a baby announcement, that’s certainly not the way that we would have announced something like that,” she explained. “It’s kind of a playful slang that’s used… predominantly with like feminine, masculine couplings within the queer community.
“It’s really just a lighthearted thing, it’s not meant to be deep. I see it got into a sex and gender conversation and I know that pronouns have been a thing.”

Chrishell then explained why it’s important to use the correct pronouns for people by using her own name as an example. Her given name is Terrina, but when she was in university, she decided to start going by Chrishell. The reality TV star said she understands that it takes time for people to get used to changing how they refer to you, but it means “so much” to see her loved ones putting in the effort.
“I had one sister that specifically would for me, correct people… and sometimes I find I do that for G, because with pronouns sometimes, it’s really gender expression [which] is different to sex, which refers to organs you were born with,” she said. “Gender is more of how you want to express yourself through, you know, just gender norms that we learn about since the time we’re born.
“It’s more about your intention of wanting to respect other people and meet them where they are.”
Stars praise Chrishell’s educational post
Chrishell’s video hit one million views in less than two hours, and the comment section was flooded by her celebrity friends.
“Love that you lead with kindness, patience and understanding… we need more bridges in this world,” Colton Underwood wrote.
“This is how the conversations should go. Great job explaining from a place of love,” added Gretchen Rossi.
“You’re honestly such a perfect angel. So kind and amazing,” added Francesca Farago.
Chrishell’s fans also shared their thoughts, with one writing: “It’s so good to hear someone with an arguably fairly straight fanbase talk about this and make it so simple for anyone who doesn’t understand. I live in a West Hollywood bubble and I truly forget sometimes that I’m super lucky to be exposed to the most diversity on a daily basis. We love our unexpected queer icon!”
“Not Chrishell having to explain queer slang to the straights. What a time to be alive,” another joked.
“I love the way you took a moment to share and teach with grace Chrishell. As someone who has family and dear friends who are queer, I am protective and this makes my heart happy,” a third added.
And of course, G Flip commented and said they were “so lucky”. May this love find us one day!
