Ariana Grande’s recent appearance at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in Singapore took a shocking turn when a man managed to get over the barricade and dodged security to rush at the singer on the yellow carpet.
The incident has gone viral on TikTok, with fans praising Cynthia Erivo for her quick action as she stepped in to push the guy off Ariana and shield her, as security then rushed in to detain him.
What happened to Ariana Grande at the Wicked premiere and why are fans concerned?

Ariana Grande was greeting fans on the yellow carpet alongside Wicked co-stars Cynthia and Michelle Yeoh, when a man suddenly jumped a barricade and ran toward her.
Footage from the scene shows Grande visibly startled as she tries to step away, but it was Cynthia’s quick actions that have fans praising her, as she intervened before security got to the scene, shielding Ariana from the man.
“Not Cynthia being faster than security, she really is Mother,” one fan commented on the footage.

“A lot of people don’t understand that Ariana may have PTSD from what happened at one of her concerts,” another fan said, referring to the 2017 terrorist attack at Ariana’s Manchester concert. “The concept of people running at her is very alarming, I’m sure.”
“Can we normalise not touching celebrities without their consent,” another person added. “They’re literally strangers doing their job.”

Aussie man arrested after Ariana Grande incident

Johnsenn Wen, known online as ‘Pyjama Man’ was the man behind the ambush. The Aussie man has previously disrupted public events and documented his antics on Instagram, claiming he “met” Ariana Grande, while poking fun at his own arrest.
Wen was arrested earlier this year after making his way on stage at Katy Perry’s concert, where he jumped up and down near the star while she looked uncomfortable and moved away, before security dragged him off stage.
“Katy Perry thanks for letting me dance on stage,” he said on Instagram, after the incident.
