“I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly.

“He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived,” he concluded.

The confirmation came after Deadline reported that Sutherland had died following a “long illness”.

He is survived by his wife, Francine Racette, as well as sons Kiefer, 57, Roeg, 50, Rossif, 45, Angus, 41 and daughter Rachel, 57.

He was known for taking on offbeat roles, including a peace-and-love spurring commander in Kelly’s Heroes and the stoned professor in Animal House.

Sutherland is also widely known for appearing in Oliver Stone‘s JFK and Robert Redford‘s Ordinary People.

Most recently, he starred in the beloved The Hunger Games series as the formidable President Coriolanus Snow.

Celebrities react to news of Donald Sutherland’s death

Countless celebrities and peers of Sutherland reacted to his death in all corners of the internet.

Robbie Amell, whose wife Italia Ricci starred with the actor’s son in Designated Survivor, replied to his confirmation: “I’m so sorry Kiefer.”

“Devastated. Our hearts are breaking for you,” The Princess Bride‘s Cary Elwes wrote.

Meanwhile, Ron Howard reflected on “one of the most intelligent, interesting and engrossing film actors of all time”.

“I was blessed to direct him in Backdraft… Incredible range, creative courage and dedication to serving the story and the audience with supreme excellence,” he penned.

Tom Blyth, who played the younger version of Sutherland’s President Snow in The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, also paid homage to the actor on Instagram.

“Donald Sutherland came about as close to mastering the craft of acting as anyone gets. So many genius performances,” he said.

“I never had the honour of knowing him personally, but it was the honour of a lifetime to follow in his footsteps. Thank you sir for birthing one of the great movie characters of all time.”

Sutherland’s memoir, Made Up, But Still True, is due for publication in November.

MAFS’ Holly Greenstein sets record straight after cinema incident goes viral on TikTok

Married at First Sight Australia 2022‘s Holly Greenstein has set the record straight following a viral TikTok in which she appeared to deny a customer entry into a cinema.

In June, one TikTok user shared a 10-second video of Holly at her workplace, Reading Cinemas Auburn, where she allegedly claimed she was “on her period”, and therefore could refuse customers entry.

In the video, an off-camera woman explained: “She said I can’t go in because she feels like it. She says, ‘I can refuse entry to whoever I want’ and she won’t give me a reason.

Holly Greenstein. Nine.

With her back to the camera, the former MAFS bride could be heard saying, “It’s because I have my period, isn’t that what you said?”

The unidentified woman quipped back before the TikTok ended:  “So you won’t let me in today because you have your period?”

Holly Greenstein says there’s more to viral cinema TikTok

Chatting to Daily Mail Australia about the incident, Holly said the customer was refused entry because she had brought an external business’ pizza, which is against Reading Cinemas’ rules.

“They brought hot food in, they were politely asked by my boss, not even me, to finish the food before they went into the cinema,” she explained.

“I tried to step away from the situation, I tried my hardest not to get involved with the situation.”

Holly continued: “My boss was trying to deal with it. I got dragged into it because they were asking me where the terms and conditions of entry sign was.”

She also alleged that the customer broached the “period” issue, and her comment was in response to that.

MAFS‘ Holly Greenstein calls out trolls for “personally attacking” her

Holly told the outlet that her MAFS profile is what resulted in the video being shared.

In the aftermath, she’s also called out online trolls for “personally attacking” her with abusive DMs.

“For the most part, customers are really kind, they look at me and recognise me and are just excited,” she admitted.

“Generally when the public recognise me, it’s a polite and friendly conversation and sometimes people ask for selfies.”

Holly’s relatively remained out of the public eye since leaving MAFS, during which she was paired with Andrew Davis.

MAFS’ Lucinda Light reveals future TV plans and this woman truly can do it all

Married at First Sight Australia 2024‘s Lucinda Light has plans aplenty for her future, but the question is, where does she begin?!

There’s no denying that viewers were left clamouring for more of MAFS 2024‘s bright spark once the 11th season of the marriage experiment wrapped up.

And now, it seems she’s keen to fulfil her many fans’ wishes, with big aspirations for a return to TV.

Lucinda Light. Nine.

In addition to penning a “fabulous book”, Lucinda told Yahoo Lifestyle that she’d love to appear in a competitive reality series.

“I really want to be on one of those dancing shows where you get to wear sequin leotards, learn how to dance, and get really fit,” she expressed.

“I think it would utterly tickle my expressive, creative side and I have no doubt I’d have a lot of fun.”

And we’d pay to see this!

The 43-year-old added that she also wouldn’t turn down a stint on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.

And it’s not totally out of the realm of possibility, given past MAFS stars in the likes of Domenica Calarco, Ryan Gallager and Davina Rankin have appeared on it.

Lucinda Light reveals what charity she’d raise money for on I’m a Celebrity

If she were to appear on the jungle-based reality series, Lucinda — who failed to find love with Timothy Smith on MAFS — already has ideas as to where her winnings would go.

“One day, I’d love to get into that jungle and raise a huge amount for non-violent communication/boundaries and consent language programs in schools and also help combat homelessness with innovative tiny houses — a great solution,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.

Lucinda Light and Timothy Smith. Nine.

“This year, I’m off to MC a couple of great fundraisers but I’d like to make a way bigger impact on some things I feel could really do with a big push.”

However, there’s one thing she wants far more than another stint on reality TV.

“I’d love more than anything to find my life partner — the special one I do life with,” she admitted.

“That’s the thing I most desire.”

“Sauce Boss is on the cards!”: Sumeet’s spicy ride on MasterChef Australia

Sumeet Saigal walked into the MasterChef Australia kitchen in last night’s episode, confidently wearing her white apron and fully expecting an immunity cook. But the judges had other plans.

When it was revealed that it was actually a surprise elimination, Sumeet, like the rest of us, was taken aback.

“That was a little bit of a surprise for all of us,” Sumeet admitted to Chattr. “We were expecting it to be a day when we could push the boat out and do something crazy and fun, without any devastating repercussions.”

The bold bacon and egg blue cheese naan

Sumeet’s dish that night was nothing short of daring—a bacon and egg blue cheese naan.

“When you think of a bacon and egg roll, it’s such a staple. But who’s ever heard of a bacon, egg, and blue cheese naan?” Sumeet explained. “I wanted to bring a piece of my heritage into it and make it relatable to Australians.”

She spiced up the classic with some rocket salad, candied walnuts, and a chilli coriander butter. “It was so delicious,” she said. “But getting that egg right was the trickiest part.”

Sumeet showed off her creative culinary skills on MasterChef Australia. 10

An egg-streme challenge

Ah, the humble egg. A breakfast staple, but a nightmare in disguise on MasterChef Australia.

“You’d think making an egg is simple, right? But when it’s inside a naan and you can’t see it, it’s a whole different ball game,” Sumeet laughed.

She even tried freezing the eggs to control the cooking process, a clever move that showed her inventive spirit. “I’ll need to practice it more, but it’s definitely a technique I’m curious about.”

Cooking from the heart

During her time on the show, Sumeet received a lot of advice, but the best piece was simple: “Cook what you love to eat.”

This mantra kept her grounded amidst the competition’s pressure. “It helps you stay calm and ensures you’re making something delicious,” she said.

For those inspired by Sumeet’s passion for simplifying Indian food and wanting to bring a taste of the culture into their own kitchens, Sumeet suggested not overthinking it. “Indian food doesn’t have to be complicated. Just start experimenting. There’s no right or wrong with food — make it your own.”

Sumeet on MasterChef
Sumeet has a passion for simplifying Indian food. 10

The future looks saucy

So, what was next for Sauce Boss? She’s diving deeper into her sauce business, a dream that has been simmering for years.

This, of course, was boosted by her win in an immunity challenge with her unique InTALIAN Simmer Sauce, a delicious blend of Indian and Italian flavours that is now available in Coles stores nationwide.

“The response to my sauces has been amazing. People are getting so creative with them. It’s inspiring.,” Sumeet said,

But she’s not just stopping at one product; she’s looking to expand her range. “Sauce Boss is on the cards! I’m going to be working tirelessly to bring more sauces to market.”

Sumeet now has her own InTALIAN sauce in Coles stores Australia-wide. 10

Who has what it takes to win Masterchef Australia 2024?

As for who she thought would take the MasterChef Australia crown this season?

“It’s tough. The top seven are all fantastic,” Sumeet said thoughtfully. “But if I really had to pick one, it would be between my subcontinent sister Sav and my beautiful roomie Nat. But yeah, I think my bestie Nat would have to.”

Watch MasterChef Australia from Sunday – Thursday on Channel 10 and 10 Play.

“I’ve got a few things in the works”: The future looks bright for MasterChef Australia star Alex

In a MasterChef Australia 2024 season packed with drama, talent, and drool-worthy dishes, Alex Crisp from Fremantle, WA, managed to steal our hearts.

Dubbed “sunshine in human form,” Alex’s journey on MasterChef Australia was one for the books, filled with cultural flavours, creativity, and that nail-biting Banksia Pod pressure test that had us all on the edge of our seats.

Alex MasterChef Australia 2024 contestant

That dreaded Banksia Pod pressure test

Alex’s final hurrah on MasterChef Australia came with the ultimate challenge – replicating Australian Chef of the Year Hugh Allen’s ‘Banksia Pod’ dessert, a dish that was a complex work of art inspired by Australian native flora.

When asked about the moment she saw the challenge, Alex laughed, “I was in all sorts. My mind immediately went, ‘Nope, can’t do this.’ But I just wanted to get something on the plate.”

Despite her efforts, the dish’s complexity was overwhelming.

“I’m not a recipe girl; I cook from intuition. Following over 100 steps with cameras and producers everywhere was insane,” she shared.

Showcasing her heritage

Throughout the season, Alex’s dishes often highlighted her multicultural background – a blend of Danish and South African influences.

“Bringing my heritage to the table was so important. Representing Denmark and South Africa on such a big stage was an incredible feeling,” she said with pride.

One of her favourite moments was when she prepared a dish honouring her grandmothers, Momor and Yoyo.

“That was really special. It felt amazing to showcase the flavours and traditions they passed down to me.”

Keeping positive amidst the chaos

Alex’s positive attitude was a breath of fresh air in the high-pressure MasterChef kitchen. She credited her fellow contestants for helping her stay grounded. “Having people you love around makes all the difference. They help you stay calm when you’re stressed or overthinking,” she explained.

Her close bonds with other contestants were a highlight of her experience. “I fell in love with every one of them. It felt like I truly belonged. Everyone brought different kinds of support and encouragement.”

What’s next for Alex?

Now that her MasterChef Australia journey has ended, Alex has some exciting plans lined up.

“I’ve got a few things in the works, like demonstrating at a seafood event and participating in the Truffle Extravaganza in Fremantle,” she revealed. Alex is passionate about promoting local WA producers and restaurants, and she’s eager to dive into the tourism and food event space.

Words of wisdom

Alex’s transition from a sales rep to a beloved MasterChef contestant is an inspiring story of following your passion. The best advice she received from her fellow contestants-turned-friends?

“Put things into perspective. Making it to the top 22 is a massive achievement. Stay grounded and remember why you love cooking.”

MasterChef fans are absolutely rolling over one contestant’s, er, crappy dish presentation

MasterChef Australia 2024 viewers are losing their minds over one contestant’s rather sh*tty dish presentation during the latest pressure test.

Fans of the hit cooking competition haven’t been shy in sharing their thoughts about the current season, and it was no different when chef Hugh Allen appeared to host a brutal challenge in the June 18 episode.

The Vue de Monde executive chef tasked Josh Perry (A.K.A. Pezza), Savindri Perera and Alex Crisp with recreating his intricate Banskia Pod dessert.

Josh Perry. Ten.

Viewers took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to admit they were impressed with Pezza “smashing” the dish’s technical elements.

It was the amateur cook’s final presentation and plating up, however, that had fans in stitches.

Fans claim Pezza’s MasterChef dish “looks like a turd”

MasterChef viewers weren’t backward in announcing that they thought Pezza’s Baskia Pod branch “looks like a turd”.

“How do they [the judges] keep a straight face when being presented with Pezza’s poo on a plate,” one fan wrote.

Meanwhile, others took to Reddit to say that the “stick should be censored on national TV”.

“That is an actual turd. Pezza is literally polishing a turd,” another wrote.

Pezza’s “turd”. Ten.

“I know I was eating my dinner,” someone replied. “Looked up, saw that and nearly choked.”

A fourth said: “His other elements look rather good and then there is literally little dog turd.”

Despite the poopy presentation, Pezza managed to pass the pressure test, saving himself from being dumped from the competition.

Pardon the pun!

The South African-born TV groom shared a mirror selfie of himself and his new partner, Margie Johan, captioned: “Date nite [sic] — looking weirdly like twins.”

Per PEDESTRIAN.TV, Claire has been a tad absent from social media in recent months.

Taking to Instagram with a Q&A in June, she admitted she “took a huge step back” from sharing her life.

“We stopped doing that somewhere along the way and when you become complacent romance dies.”

Claire also said it’s important for couples to have an “alignment with goals” and life plans.

“I realise now how much I value being with someone who has the same mindset as me,” she dished, adding that Pat is “a great human”.

Jude Law reveals “stinky method” used to keep Firebrand film set authentic to Henry VIII history

Jude Law has revealed he took keeping his new film Firebrand authentic into his own hands, revealing the “stinky method” he used to stay in character.

The movie follows Law‘s portrayal of Henry VIII during the final months of his rule over England, delving into the conflicts between him and his wife, Katherine Parr, played by Alicia Vikander.

However, it seems playing the king’s love interest might not have been an easy feat for Vikander.

Speaking to People at Firebrand‘s Tribeca Film Festival premiere, Law detailed that he doused himself in a perfume comprised of blood and faeces scents — A.K.A. the “stinky method”.

Gross!

Why did Jude Law wear the perfume?

According to the actor, the film’s director Karim Aïnouz “creates what [he] call[s] a 360-degree environment to acting,” which allows the actors to feel completely immersed in the “world” of the film.

“The scent was a big part [of the world-building],” he explained.

“I learned that Henry had this stench because of his rotten legs and I just thought it’d be an interesting addition for those around me who had to fawn over him and do his every desire [while] also sort of holding back this retch.”

The Holiday star first mentioned the perfume technique in May 2023 at the Cannes Film Festival.

At the time, he said he began wearing small doses of the stench. However, “when Karim got ahold of it, it just became a spray-fest”.

What other ways was the Firebrand set kept authentic?

Aside from Law’s perfume, the Firebrand set was kept authentic to the time period in several other ways.

He explained to People that they would leave windows open so the set would become “very cold, so we’d wrap up in our furs”.

Plus, there were “always animals present, which was true to the time”.

Married at First Sight Australia 2024‘s Lucinda Light has shed light on her alleged feud with Timothy Smith, confirming he blocked her on social media.

While the duo didn’t find romantic love during the 11th season of the marriage experiment, Timothy and Lucinda came off the show the best of friends.

Fans have since loved watching their shenanigans on social media. However, they became concerned for their friendship upon realising they no longer followed each other on Instagram.

They also didn’t appear in each other’s tagged photos, which indicates that they’d been blocked.

Now, Lucinda has addressed rumours that she and Timothy are on the outs.

Chatting to Daily Mail Australia, the TV bride confirmed her former telly bae blocked her on Instagram.

“There are no hard feelings on my end,” she told the outlet.

“My arms and doors are always open.”

Taking to TikTok on June 15, Timothy shared a video in a bid to “clear up a few questions” about his friendship with Lucinda.

He rubbished claims made by unnamed MAFS co-stars to Yahoo Lifestyle, which suggested he’s harbouring “jealousy” in regards to Lucinda‘s career.

He described the allegations as “all off the mark”.

“I will keep why [we unfollowed each other] private,” he declared. “There are only really three or four people that know.

“I wish Lu all the best in the future. There is no question. “Sometimes people’s paths take different directions.”

The TV groom concluded the TikTok by reflecting on his MAFS experience with Lucinda.

“We filmed a TV show… It was a lot of fun… That’s where I’m going to leave it”.

Timothy Smith previously shared a vague TikTok about

Timothuy’s clarification comes after he shared an initial TikTok in early June.

In it, he urged people to “get rid” of those who “don’t respect your time”.

“As I went about my day yesterday, it made me think about time and how valuable time is,” he said. “If people don’t respect your time — and respect is a big word — if they don’t appreciate or respect the time that you give people, cut them out.”

The 51-year-old added that “time is the most valuable commodity”.

“We give it out so flippantly for free, and if you don’t respect it and appreciate it, then get rid of them,” he continued.

“Don’t let anyone waste one minute of your life and time because if they don’t respect it, they don’t deserve to have it.”
