FBoy Island: Abbie Chatfield reveals she only attracts FBoys and she couldn’t be more relatable

Binge Original Series FBoy Island has landed and host Abbie Chatfield says has revealed she knows a thing or two about F**kboys after attracting them in her personal life.

Premiering on May 29, the 10-episode reality series follows three Australian women, Molly O’HalloranSophie Blackley and Ziara Rae as they navigate the dating pool together to uncover who are the self-proclaimed “nice guys” looking for love, and who are the self-proclaimed “FBoys” only there to play the game and take home the cash prize.

“I think all I attract are Fboys, which is super hot and iconic from me,” Chatfield told Chattr during an interview before the series premiere.

While the definition on the show is explicitly about guys playing the three leading ladies for money, IRL Chatfield gives another explanation.

Ziara Rae, Sophie Blackley, Abbie Chatfield and Molly O’Halloran. Binge

“I think that the definition would be somebody who is going to mess you around and lie to you and string you along.”

And for the TV and radio personality, being strung along is “the most painful part”.

“I can be rejected, I’m fine to be rejected,” she admitted. “But when someone is pretending they like you and doing all these things that you think should mean that they want to be with you, that you’re the only one that they’re really interested in and then you get the rug pulled from underneath you, then it’s an Fboy move to have unclear intentions.”

Abbie Chatfield reveals that FBoy Island “flips the script” on women in dating

The series was seen as a lil’ controversial; however, Chatfield believes it actually “flips the script” for women in dating.

“We’re usually told to be so small and gaslight or gaslight ourselves into thinking that the problems that we have with men in relationships, that you’re ‘crazy’ to bring it up. That you’re being too much or you’re taking things too personally,” Chatfield said.

“But in this show, everything is super analysed and I think it’s quite invigorating. It’s quite validating for these women and to me and hopefully for those watching at home as well. To see that it isn’t you, [that] you aren’t crazy for pointing out things that you think aren’t how you should be treated and I think it’s been such a great experience.”

Binge.

Some contestants kinda hit on Abbie during filming

While overall the gig was great, The Masked Singer Australia judge said that she did experience a little bit of cheeky on-set behaviour from some of the men.

“There were a few wolf whistle moments that were a bit much,” she said. “I just went, ‘shut up’. These men are in this environment where they get called out for things. It was quite amazing really, even on set. They’re completely under scrutiny all the time, so it’s really easy for them to be put back into their place.

“It’s really easy for them to be put back into their place because they are so used to being on a pedestal and being so high up on the pyramid that is the patriarchy, the structure is that when they’re in this environment, if I say shut up, they do. It’s absolutely wild. I hope the boys learned a thing or two to be honest.”

The men of FBoy Island. Binge

While Chatfield has the “courage that some people don’t” in these kinds of situations, she praised the three women for banding together to call the crappy behaviour out.

“They were very honest,” she said. “It was really great casting with these three women. They’ve done such a good job by themselves, so I wasn’t needed that much until the end.”

Stream FBoy Island from May 29 only on Binge.

The Summit Recap Episode 7: The eliminated contestants were given the ultimate task

It’s episode seven of The Summit Australia and day 11 for the Trekkers, but there’s a twist coming directly from the eliminated contestants!

After all the craziness of Sam’s ousting and prize money thievery, Brooke has now teamed up with Jans, Sam’s trusted ally. Is this a genuine connection or just a sneaky move?

Brooke’s downplaying of Jans’ links to Sam only adds to Indy, Josh, and Alex’s worries that Brooke’s getting in the way of the plan to vote out Jans.

As the seven hikers make their way up the mountain, a looming deadline of three days and a 165km distance covered so far can make anyone nervous. And yet, there’s always that one obstacle.

A checkpoint, 30kms away, stands between them and their destination, which they are almost a day behind schedule to reach.

Determined to pick up the pace, they commence an uphill climb, and Jans, looking to survive by being a group’s guy, decides to win over Isaac.

Jans. Nine

The Waterfall

As they reach a mammoth waterfall to cross, Jans recalls Isaac’s previous struggle with the heights, but now it’s his chance to befriend Isaac and confirm a rumour about a potential danger to the group.

Josh steps up to take the lead during the daring waterfall crossing knowing all eyes are on him. Bags on backs? No way, too risky! Josh decides to throw the bags himself as Alex helps toss them from the other side.

Unfortunately, their plan backfires and Jans is thrilled by Josh’s fumble. Meanwhile, poor Isaac is fuming and plotting to vote Josh off. But wait, Isaac saves the day with a brilliant throwing technique suggestion that gets the job done. Crisis averted!

As the group trudges on, wet, cold, and exhausted, Josh starts to feel the heat. The second leg of the obstacle looms ahead – a 200m climb up a rocky waterfall.

Josh, with his mountaineering experience, takes the lead to show off his skills but fate has other plans. He flounders and gets stuck mid-climb!

Josh. Nine

After a gruelling two hours, Josh finally reaches the top, hoping against hope that the others will be equally challenged. However, Jans takes the lead, showing off his mountain credentials, and inspires the rest of the team to conquer the climb.

While Josh watches them scale the heights with growing anxiety, he’s convinced that Isaac, after his last debacle at the waterfall, is going to have a “complete and utter freak out”

The race against the chopper

Isaac’s fear wasn’t enough to stop him from competing against Josh once again.

As they crossed the snowy terrain, the Mountain’s Keeper dropped a bag, launching the group into a race for a guaranteed seat on a nearby chopper.

Unfortunately, only six spots were available, which meant one person would be left behind. Josh quickly nominated Jans for elimination, but Isaac had other plans. He spilled the beans to Alex about Josh’s desire to see him gone on the waterfall abseil.

The Summit Trekkers and Jai Courtney. Nine

Nervous about his spot in the competition, Josh added Isaac to the elimination list. However, during the vote, Isaac put Josh’s name forward, and the group followed suit, saying their goodbyes as Josh left the campsite.

Celebrating their victory with champagne, the remaining hikers soon learned that the eliminated group held control over the prize money distribution and forces were at play at the base of the mountain…

The Summit continues on May 30 at 7.30 pm on 9 and 9Now.

Masterchef Recap Episode 15: An overnight cook sees one contestant leave for good

It’s MasterChef Australia 2023 episode 15 and it’s that time of the week where one contestant must leave the competition.

All of the remaining competitors, except for Declan, were up to cook; however, unlike previous eliminations, this one wasn’t an intense race against the clock, it was actually a two-day event!

The cooks were allotted 45 minutes to prepare their dishes before returning the following day with 60 minutes to finish.

Masterchef. Channel 10.

Elimination cook

Brent decided to utilise the extra time by using the sous vide technique on some duck legs for his Bebek Goreng dish, while Malissa too chose an Indonesian flavour with her Beef Redang.

Masterchef. Channel 10.

Meanwhile, Robbie used a slow cooker for the first time in his life and whipped up Asian Style Poached Duck while Theo prepared a Slow-Cooked Lamb Shoulder with Slow-Proofing Bread in the hope to make his dad proud.

While the overnight portion was beneficial for some of the contestants, others faced huge problems as time went on.

Rhiannon was upset when she discovered that her Beef Rendang had dried out and was overcooked, while Malissa’s ragu was unbalanced and Robbie’s broth lost all of its flavour.

Amy also found herself in a disappointing situation when she discovered that her pork was overcooked and she had limited time to perfect her blue tortillas.

But, it wasn’t all grim. Brent’s duck legs looked great and Theo’s lamb cooked just as he’d hoped.

Elimination judging

Amongst some of the best dishes were Theo’s Lamb and Flatbreads which the judges loved, and Brent’s duck was called the best dish he’s cooked in the competition so far. Both men made the cut.

Masterchef. Channel 10.

The elimination came down to the worst three dishes – which were Malissa’s unbalanced Ragu paired with Pasta that wasn’t cooked al dente, Rhiannon’s Beef Rendang which was considered dry with an acidic sauce and Amy’s Mexican Japanese fusion also had dried out.

MasterChef. Channel 10.

Who was sent home?

The judges declared that Amy’s Mexican dish had dry meat, sauce that didn’t belong, and tortillas that were too thick, so she was sent home.

MasterChef Australia continues at 7:30pm on 10 and 10Play.

The Summit’s Josh Waldhorn has a very famous dad and how did we not know this?!

Josh Waldhorn’s The Summit expedition may have ended, but it inspired him to follow in his late father’s famous footsteps.

The 53-year-old native of London, UK is the son of Gary Waldhorn, an actor known for his roles in The Vicar of Dibley, Brideshead Revisited, The Professionals, The Bill and Heartbeat.

“He was a Shakespearean actor, really, but he was known for sitcoms,” Josh said during a chat with Chattr prior to his elimination.

“I grew up in the schools of theatre with all sorts of famous people. I was even in a play with him, Waiting for Godot which was a very famous production.”

Dawn French and Gary Waldhorn. BBC

Amidst the company of his father’s co-stars Dawn French, James Fleet, and Four Weddings and a Funeral star Richard Curtis, Josh and his family attended a memorial, flying back to the UK to pay tribute to Gary who passed away at 78 in January 2022.

There were also video messages from celebrities like Dame Judi Dench and others, which added an extra touch of love and warmth to the event.

Succession star Brian Cox’s advice for Josh Waldhorn

At the age of 10, Josh foreshadowed his passion for acting while starring alongside his dad in Godot in 1980.

Now, with aspirations of reviving his thespian talent, he reached out to Succession’s Brian Cox for guidance.

The tale began with a charming anecdote of growing up with Brian’s son, Alan Cox, who then ventured off to become Watson in Young Sherlock Holmes.

More recently, while Brian was down under for a literary festival in Melbourne, Josh left a note with the box office for him, which resulted in a 90-minute conversation between the two and Brian said to him, “You know, why don’t you [get into acting]?'”.

Josh confessed that since performing has “been in his blood”— having even had roles in a few TV series and a couple of short features — that The Summit would help him get back in front of the screen.

“I’ve been quietly hoping that this show [The Summit] might give me a reason to just get on with it,” he said.

Josh Waldhorn applied for The Summit after his father died

Gary’s passing left Josh in a “dark place”, so he embarked on The Summit for an “adventure”.

“One of the things I really would like to be seen as from this show is that I’m an inspiration to all the millions of people out there that are in a dark place in their lives,” he said.

Josh Waldhorn on The Summit. Nine

“It’s proof that you can come out of that and that you can find your way out and you can have a renaissance. That you can find yourself again and take on an adventure and get out of your comfort zone.”

The Summit continues Monday, May 29 at 7.30 pm on 9 and 9Now.

The full Barbie trailer is here and we *finally* know what the movie is about

As if the fact that it’s Friday wasn’t already great, Warner Bros has gone ahead and made our day *chefs kiss* by dropping the full Barbie trailer.

Barbie fans (and pretty much, the entire world) was sent into a tailspin early last month when the Barbie teaser trailer dropped and debuted a positively sparkling world consisting of perfectly arched doll feet and pink sand beaches. But, while the visuals were nothing short of mesmerising, there wasn’t a whole lot of information about what the upcoming blockbuster was actually about.

Fortunately, that’s all changed with the brand-spanking new drop of the full two-and-a-half-minute Barbie trailer today.

Watch the full trailer here and we will discuss below.

So, what will the Barbie movie be about, then?

The trailer starts off with Margot Robbie as Barbie living her best life in Barbie Land; she’s got her man Ken (played by Ryan Gosling) at her side, and a planned choreography dance party scheduled for the night ahead with all her Barbie friends.

However, disaster strikes when she begins to notice some unusual changes like her feet going flat and experiencing gravity for the first time. Shortly after, she’s informed that she will have to leave Barbie World and head into the real world AKA Earth.

She’s given a pair of Birkenstocks and her and Ken head off to the real world. Here, they face a myriad of problems that don’t exist in Barbie Land, and some clever humans cotton on to the fact that she’s a doll that’s come to life. Worried about the fallout from Barbie’s transition to earth, Will Ferrell’s character, who looks to be the supervillain in the movie, sends his team on a mission to get Barbie “back into a box”.

Who’s in the Barbie movie?

By now, it’s very well known that Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are the two main characters in the film, and play Barbie and Ken respectfully. We’ve also touched on the fact that Will Ferrell has a large part.

However, they are far from the only big celebs in the blockbuster, we’ll also be seeing household names like Simu Liu, America FerreraKate McKinnonMichael Cera, Dua Lipa, and Helen Mirren, as well as a bunch of other huge stars.

When will the Barbie movie premiere?

Set your countdown apps people, because Barbie will be released in Australia on July 20, 2023.

Where can I watch the other trailers?

Prior to the full trailer being dropped today, there have been two teaser trailers released. You can watch them below:

Barbie will be released in cinemas nationwide on July 20, 2023.

Four bombshell moments from the wild Vanderpump Rules season 10 reunion

The hotly-anticipated #Scandoval Vanderpump Rules season 10 reunion part 1 episode finaaaaally aired on Hayu last night, and boy, was it a doozy.

In case you’ve been living off the grid for the past few months, an affair recently went down on the show that was so scandalous that it managed to make its way into headlines across the world – including The New York Times.

Tom Sandoval – who is one of the OG cast members on the show – had an affair with one of his girlfriend of nine years Ariana Maddix’s best friends Racquel Leviss. Ariana found out about the affair when his phone fell out of his pocket and she picked it up and discovered an explicit recording from Racquel to Tom.

The affair caused a huge rift between all of the cast members, with most taking Ariana’s side and condemning both Sandoval and Racquel for their actions.

This all happened at the beginning of March. While some cast members have leaked info about the affair and the cast’s reactions to the press, fans have been patiently waiting for the reunion episode to air to see what really went down.

After months of anticipation, part one of the reunion aired last night, and, it didn’t disappoint. Check out five of the wildest moments from the reunion below:

Ariana’s red revenge dress and her savage comment about Tom Sandoval

Pics dropped of the jaw-dropping red dress that Ariana wore to the reunion back when it was filmed back at the end of March, but we still can’t get over what a power choice it was. What most don’t actually know though, is that the red number is actually a cropped jacket and matching pencil skirt by Mônot, not a dress.

An-y-way, it looked fire but the scorned reality star didn’t just look hot AF, she retained her trademark sass and threw a zinger Sandoval’s way. “Well, he looks like sh*t,” she commented as she walked past him.

Raquel watched the reunion from a trailer nearby

Racquel Leviss. Hayu/Bravo.

For (probably) the first time in Racquel’s Vanderpump career, she was the star of the show. But, despite her huge role in the shenanigans, she watched the reunion from a trailer outside and many fans are wondering why.

Well, upon finding out that Racquel had been f*cking her best friend’s boyfriend of nine years, Scheana Shay allegedly punched Racquel in the face and the reality mistress obtained a restraining order over the incident, meaning that the two reality stars couldn’t be in the same room for the reunion.

James Kennedy had to be physically restrained

James Kennedy. Hayu/Bravo.

James Kennedy has come a long way since he made his debut on VPR as a meek 20-year-old busboy at Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant Sur. Over the past few seasons he’s found his feet as a DJ and has become one of the show’s breakout stars.

However, casual fans who have just tuned in for the #scandoval (Tom Sandoval scandal) may not know that he used to be engaged to Racquel, and considered Sandoval one of his closest friends.

So, James was rightly quite mad about the affair and made these feelings very obvious at the reunion. At one point, he had to be physically restrained after getting into a heated argument with Tom Sandavol. And, it wouldn’t be a VPR reunion with an iconic James Kennedy line, which he delivered in spades.

“I am way more ripped than you!” He screamed at Sandoval mid-fight.

He later stormed off set because he wasn’t down with how much Lisa was supporting Sandoval.

Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz’s mixed up timelines

Vanderpump Rules. Hayu/Bravo.

For those who aren’t super familiar with the dynamics and backstories within the Vanderpump Rules group, Sandoval and Tom Schwartz are super-duper close besties, who even own a bar together (with Lisa Vanderpump) called TomTom. Throughout the past ten seasons, they’ve covered for one another time after time when it comes to dogging their girlfriends, and share a very strong bro code which (most probably) states that they will always cover for one another.

When news broke of Sandoval’s affair, Tom Schwartz was dragged down too as fans were convinced that he knew and critcised him for not telling Ariana. After all, she was a groomsman at his wedding and the pair had been pals for nine years.

In the reunion, the host Andy Cohen asked the boys men when the fair started and it seemed they hadn’t run through their timeline prior to filming. Tom Schwartz claimed the affair started in August while Sandoval said it was late January.

Vanderpump Rules Reunion season 10 part 2 drops on June 1 at 9:00pm on Hayu.

MasterChef Recap Episode 14: A contestant battles Sergio Perera to win an Immunity Pin

It’s episode 14 of MasterChef Australia 2023 and an Immunity Pin is up for grabs if a contestant can beat a world-class chef in a cook-off!

Being the winning team for last night’s Service Challenge, tonight it’s time for AdiCath, Robbie, PhilDeclanJessicaGrace and Amy to battle it out in the kitchen.

In the first round, the contestants will compete against one another, with the victorious cook facing off against celebrity chef Sergio Perera.

And if they win? They will take home the Immunity pin and be safe from Sunday’s elimination.

The Cook – Round One

Upon arrival to the kitchen, each chef was welcomed by the judges Jock ZonfrilloAndy Allen and Mel Leong plus a massive gift at their station. Upon unwrapping it, they discover they all have a different appliance that they can use in the challenge. The catch? The gifted appliance is the only one they’re able to use!

Declan had a pressure cooker, Amy had a stand mixer and Phil had an ice cream maker, but it’s Robbie who’s left stumped over his appliance.

When Jock asks him exactly what his machine does, Robbie straight up says that he doesn’t know, and things are beginning to look grim for him in this round.

MasterChef. Chanel 10.

“Poor Robbie, he’s never seen a cold press juicer in his life,” Jock laughed.

The contestants were told that along with the chance at the Immunity pin, the winner of this round would also take home a $10,000 gift card for Harvey Norman. And, TBH, most of the contestants (and Andy, too) seemed more stoked about the gift card than the chance to skip an elimination.

The contestants got started on their appliance-inspired dishes and Cath was one of the first to hit a speed bump with her Cream and Jam Butter Cake when Mel made it clear that her dish was looking extremely sweet.

Cath narrowly avoided a breakdown and held herself together before coming up with the idea to put some basil in her jam to balance out the flavours.

MasterChef. Channel 10.

Meanwhile, Phil was looking nervous about his ice cream-making task, knowing that his last attempt failed miserably. Despite being advised to simplify his last dish, Phil decided to go all out and make a Tea Ice Cream with a Chocolate Hazelnut Biscuit and Chocolate mousse.

The rest of the contestants seemed to cruise through their dishes with minimal problems.

Judging Round One

First up is Cath with her Family Birthday cake, and Mel gave her a figurative pat on the back while saying that the cake was delicious and “the jam and the cream are both really fresh and a little bit sour which really lifts everything up.”

Phil was nervous coming forward with his second ice cream dish for the season and the dramatic music that was swirling seemed to suggest he wasn’t going to be well-received. Turns out, it was just trickery from the sound producers and all the judges enjoyed his dessert, with Jock telling him it was a “redemption dish”.

MasterChef. Channel 10.

It seemed that Robbie got the hang of the cold press juicer because all three judges loved his “Robbie’s Duck” dish.

“The flavour in the duck was brilliant, and the cook in the duck was brilliant. I think you’re a flavour smith,” Jock declared.

Amy made Sardine Flatbread, and while the judges didn’t mind it, they didn’t have a whole lot to say. The same went for Grace and her Anchovy and Cheese Croquet with Chilli and Yoghurt Sauce and Adi and her Kataifi Prawns and Mayonnaise.

After skimming through the past few contestants, Declan’s dish reveal of Thai Chicken Broth with Peanut and Lime Sambal got a lot of screen time, and for good reason as the judges were blown away by his creation.

“Declan, I loved it,” Mel said. “This is the exceptional food that we’re looking for”

Andy agreed. “You’ve cooked the best dish in round one, which means, mate, you’ve won this,” he said while flashing the Harvey Norman gift card. Declan was sent through to round two to cook against a world-class chef in order to win immunity.

“I’m bloody over the moon, what a day I’ve got goosebumps,” he exclaimed.

MasterChef. Channel 10.

The Cook – Round Two

Declan’s next task was competing against Sergio who has worked at elBulli in Spain which was ranked the best restaurant in the world five times.

More recently, he’s teamed up with Chris Hemsworth to kick start his app Centr as the key chef.

If Declan beats Sergio he will get the immunity pin. If he doesn’t, he still gets to keep the $10,000 Harvey Norman gift card, which feels like a win-win to me.

Sergio Perera. Ten

Because of his triumph in the last round – and probably also because Sergio is a world-class chef – Declan was given a 15-minute head start in the challenge.

The men were presented with four different flavour pairings; dark chocolate and parmesan, carrots and raspberries, mushrooms and blueberries, and mandarin and tarragon.

Delcan chose Mandarin and Tarrgon to pair with fish. This left Sergio with one of the other three options and he decided on blueberries and mushrooms… to also cook with fish.

MasterChef. Channel 10.

Despite the similarities in their dishes, Declan wasn’t too worried.

“Declan is my name and fish is my game,” he chirped with a grin.

While the men got stuck into their dishes, the female contestants (and Robbie) fangirled over Sergio and his good looks from the balcony above.

He wasn’t phased by the attention and happily sauteed his blueberries while grillinf his mushrooms to accompany the fish.

“Everything seems perfect right now,” he said.

With only 20 mins to go, Declan was only just selecting his fish and pointed out that it needs a “good 15 minutes” in the steamer.

As expected, Declan began to stress that his fish wasn’t cooked enough.

Alas, he managed to finish cooking it just in the nick of time and the MasterChef contestant plated up as the last few seconds ticked down.

The Verdict

Sergio’s dish was up first and the judges are impressed.

“Fish is cooked through… morish, I want to keep eating it,” Jock said.

However, Mel said that while there’s some “undeniable skill going on”, she “doesn’t know if she’d say it was the most cohesive”. Andy agreed and said he wishes it was more mushroom-forward, and it looked as though Sergio was in trouble.

MasterChef. Channel 10.

Meanwhile, Jock was impressed with Declan’s dish, calling it “beautiful” and said his only criticism is that he thinks the sauce could have done with a finer strainer. However, Andy said that the dish needed a bit more salt but thought it was a “solid” effort.

Masterchef. Channel 10.

The Results

Cue the results: Declan got an eight from Andy, an eight from Mel and a nine from Jock which brought him to a total of 25 out of 30.

Sergio got an eight from Jock, a seven from Andy and a seven from Mel, bringing him to a total of 22, meaning that Declan was victorious and he won the immunity pin!

Meet Chris Hemsworth’s chef, Sergio Perera, the one to beat in MasterChef’s Immunity Challenge

MasterChef Australia 2023 has already delivered on some huge culinary names including Jamie Oliver and Eddie Stewart and now Sergio Perera will appear in a fun game of Beat the Chef.

During May 25’s competition, one cook will go head-to-head with Perera after serving the best dish to the judges in round one, vying to get a free pass from Sunday’s elimination plus a $10,000 Harvey Norman voucher.

But who is the expert that’s bringing the heat to the MasterChef kitchen?

About Sergio Perera

Based in Australia, Perera boasts experience working in some of the world’s finest eateries such as elBulli, helmed by the renowned Ferran Adrià.

Sergio Perera and Albert Adria Acosta from elBulli. Instagram

Alongside his gastronomic endeavours, Perera founded Arrel, an institution that promotes global food culture and sustainability through its think tank.

Born and raised in Spain, the Michelin-trained chef cultivated his home country’s culinary traditions and through training in Japan, he expanded his skillset to incorporate diverse, global delicacies.

Perera began working in the kitchen at 15, obtaining fresh and organic ingredients directly from trusted sources like farmers, butchers and fishermen. He later delved into the science of nutrition when he turned 22.

Which celebrities has he worked with?

A celebrated chef and nutrition consultant, Perera has collaborated with renowned celebrities such as Chris Hemsworth (as his personal chef and on the Centr platform), Elsa Pataky, Robert Downey Jr, and Leonardo DiCaprio.

But his big break came in 2007 when he had to fill in for a friend for a few weeks, cooking for Tom Cruise.

“From that point on, I immediately got into the Hollywood scene and made a name for myself – all word of mouth through clients,” he told 9Honey during an interview earlier this year.

“Then I got certified in nutritional science to help me tailor diets for actors, athletes, and politicians.”

MasterChef Australia continues on May 25 at 7.30pm on 10 and 10Play.

Surprisingly spicy reality show Parental Guidance has landed a season 2 premiere date

Parental Guidance season two is coming and when it comes to reality TV shows, you’d be forgiven for dismissing it as potentially being less spicy than Married at First Sight.

However, between the parent-to-parent feuds and wild storylines, the series certainly doesn’t skimp on the scandals and looks to follow in the footsteps of last year’s rating success with twelve new distinctive – and very unique – parenting styles.

Where can I watch Parental Guidance?

Parental Guidance will premiere on June 5, at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Who hosts it?

Season two of Parental Guidance will return with the same hosts as last year, A Current Affair and mother-of-two Ally Langdon and parenting expert Justin Coulson.

“Parenting is like treading water while juggling – just when you think you’ve got the hang of it, another ball gets thrown into the mix!” Langdon said in a statement, of her job as a mother and a TV host.

“That’s why this show is so important and such a privilege to be a part of, because not only do we get the opportunity to witness some incredible people raise awesome kids, we all get to learn a thing or ten along the way.”

Ally Langdon and Justin Coulson. Network Nine.

What is Parental Guidance?

Twelve sets of parents will enter the experiment and openly display their parenting styles, which are judged by both the hosts and their fellow co-stars.

Throughout the season, the parents undertake challenges and have their approach to parenting reviewed, reacted to and discussed on the Parents’ Lounge, which ultimately leads to a vote for Australia’s best style.

“There’s something really special about the connection between a family unit, so I’m excited to see how these twelve different dynamics respond when being put to the test,” host Coulson said in the same statement of the upcoming season.

“The beauty of this environment is that it’s safe and controlled, which allows us all to arm ourselves with knowledge and a strong sense of responsibility ahead of these scenarios playing out in real-time.”

Who will we meet in season two?

During season two, we’ll meet the ‘Influencer Parents’ whose child has over 500,000 followers on Instagram. We’ll also see a mum-and-dad who advocates for “Gentle Parenting” whose kid slams the door in his dad’s face. Lol.

Finally, we’ll see a kid with a cowboy hat and a real-life gun… which truly begs so many questions.

Alone Australia winner smashes two franchise records during the finale episode

The inaugural season of Alone Australia may have started off with ten contestants, but the finale episode confirmed that there were only ever two key players; Michael Atkinson and Gina Chick.

The two competitors battled it out and went head to head for 34 days after the only other remaining contestant Michael Wallace voluntarily withdrew at the 33 days mark. While Atkinson is a professional survivor by trade, it was bushcraft teacher Chick who was crowned the winner and took home the $250,000 prize money after surviving 67 days in the Tasmanian outback.

Two records were smashed during the Alone Australia finale

During the finale episode on May 24, not one, but two, international Alone records were smashed.

Firstly, Chick and Atkinson’s one-to-one stand-off was the longest in the history of the franchise!

Secondly, at the age of 52, Chick snatched the crown off season two Alone US winner David McIntyre to become the oldest contestant to ever win any version. Amazing!

However, despite taking home the winner’s bragging rights, Chick said that her time on the survival show runs much deeper than a competitive yearning to win.

“For me, it was never about winning the competition. My focus was on solving my needs every day. I’m not an expert survivalist, but what I’ve found is that I can let my instincts and the land teach me what I needed to know,” she said in a statement.

“I really wanted to show that there is a way of being at home in the wild. There’s a way of connecting with an ancestral way of being that isn’t about dominating nature, or about having all the bells and whistles and tricks. I want to thank the palawa for the tens of thousands of years they’ve lived in harmony with this country, leaving footprints for me to follow.”

Chick, whose best friend Lee was the one to tell her that she had won, said that her time on the reality TV show has changed her life for good.

“Coming into this experience, I said the Gina who walked in would not be the Gina that walked out. I left more windswept, more grateful, more in love than I’ve ever been in my life,” she said.

The Reunion episode

Fans can catch up on what’s happened since filming wrapped on Alone Australia with a special one-hour reunion program Alone Australia: The Reunion which airs May 25 at 7.30pm on SBS.

Hosted by Amanda Keller OAM, the entire cast is reunited for the first time since they were dropped in the remote wilds of Western Tasmania / lutruwita to discuss their experiences and reveal never-before-seen footage.

Alone Australia: The Reunion airs May 25 at 7.30pm on SBS.

Bob Morley reflects on his own mental health journey as his new series In Limbo premieres

Content warning: This article and interview with In Limbo’s Bob Morley references suicide and may be triggering to some readers.

ABC’s new dramedy, In Limbo, delves into the aftermath of suicide and the profound emotional effects it causes and for star Bob Morley, its theme of mental health is close to home.

Written by Lucas Taylor (Five Bedrooms) and Tamara Asmar (Doctor Doctor), the series follows Nate (Bob Morley) and Charlie’s (Ryan Corr) friendship until Nate’s own tragic decision to take his life at the age of 38. Charlie’s coping mechanism is put to the ultimate test as the ghost of his best mate starts ‘haunting’ him. Instead of levitating tables or flying books, Charlie confronts the overwhelming spectre of loss in this emotional roller-coaster. However, his dead friend’s charisma and humour bring him much-needed comfort – albeit in phantom form.

“I watched the screeners and if I can step outside of my own ego and my own performance, it’s definitely one of the most unique Australian shows that I’ve seen in a while and unique in all the great ways,” actor Bob Morley said on Chattr’s The Entertainment Hotline podcast. “[It’s] Challenging and very moving and funny.”

Bob Morley found solace in the cast and crew of In Limbo

The statistics around suicide globally are concerning, with 8.6 people in Australia taking their own life each day, making it the leading cause of death for Australians aged 18-44, with 75% of those being men.

To create an authentic and compassionate portrayal of this sensitive topic, Taylor and producer Jennifer Cummins worked in collaboration with accomplished researchers and practitioners in men’s mental health and suicide prevention while the cast and crew also provided support for one another during the challenging shoot.

“I’ve been on my own mental health journey for a long time,” Morley revealed. “And really, in the last our years, I’ve really focused in on it. In terms of that support [on set], I reached out to my family, and to Ryan and got to know the crew as well. It was a very welcoming environment to be part of. The whole crew had been affected by a mental health condition in their life at some point, so it was a really important story for all of us to tell and it felt like a really strong unit throughout.”

In Limbo looks at how friends and family cope with grief

In Limbo revolves around Nate’s journey and subsequent suicide, while also delving into the subject of how loved ones cope with such a loss.

The audience is left uncertain about Nate’s existence as a ghost or a projection of Charlie’s grieving thoughts and is encouraged to form their own opinion on this prominent theme.

“Even Nate’s mother Maria [Lena Cruz] is trying to find answers where they aren’t and Charlie and Freya [Emma Harvie] go through that as well, where they kind of go, ‘well, there must have been something else. There must have been this.’ And I think that’s what’s quite beautiful about the show. It depicts that there are no real simple answers.”

Emma Harvie, Kamillia Rihani, Lena Cruz
Emma Harvie, Kamillia Rihani, Lena Cruz. ABC

“There is nothing concrete, nothing tangible that they can hold onto because of x,y,z happened. There are so many mitigating factors. The one true thing — and I don’t want to say Nate didn’t have the courage, because to work through his own issues on his own is a really admirable thing — it was just that next step of being vulnerable, and being able to talk to his wife. It wasn’t like he was withholding information, he just wanted to be able to cope on his own.”

If you or someone you know is in distress and needs more information, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or the Kids Helpline on 1800 551 800.

In Limbo premieres Wednesday 24th May at 9.00 pm on ABC TV and ABC iview with all six episodes available to stream on ABC iview from launch.

MasterChef Recap Episode 13: Surf & Turf was on the menu for the biggest Service Challenge ever

Grab your aprons, folks! It’s lucky episode 13 time and time for some Surf and Turf on MasterChef Australia 2023.

During the May 24 episode, the contestants packed up their knives and headed out to Grazeland in Melbourne’s Spotswood for the first BIGGEST Service Challenge the series had ever seen!

In case you’re not from Victoria, Grazeland is a food lover’s dream, overflowing with an endless array of global cuisine and culinary masterpieces.

Grazeland. Ten

Splitting into two teams, the contestants had five hours of prep time to whip up a mean Surf and Turf. And the goal? Feeding “thousands” of hungry diners!

The winning team, which managed to impress the judges the most, will now be vying for Immunity in Thursday’s episode.

After all the “ooh’s” and “aah’s” were complete, here’s everything that happened!

The Teams

The contestants were randomly put into two teams by choosing aprons from a bag.

In the Turquoise team was Adi, Cath, Robbie, Phil, Declan, Jessica, Grace and Amy and in the Yellow team: Rhiannon, Rue, Theo, Alice, Brent, Antonio and Ralph.

Malissa pulled the white apron from the bag, meaning she wouldn’t be cooking; however, she had to back one team (she chose Yellow) and if they won, she won!

With five hours on the clock, it was time to get their prep on!

Prep Time

Adi took charge of the Turquoise team and they chose to make a Thai theme. They opted to cook Thai Curry with Barramundi and Thai Beef Salad.

The Yellow team chose Pork Belly with Scallion Fried Rice and Chilli Mussels and Focaccia, with the team looking to Brent to take charge.

Brent. Ten

Back on the Turquoise team, Declan was tasked with preparing 400 portions of Barramundi with Judge Jock saying he was feeling “petrified” for them.

“This is going to be hard,” he said.

The Turquoise team decided to bulk up their curry with veggies, while Theo over on Yellow a.k.a “Bread Boy”, had to calculate how much focaccia to make.

Jock questioned the team about the number of mussels each person would receive, telling them they needed to double the recipe, which meant cleaning, debearding and cooking 2400 pieces.

Phil was in charge of chopping the beef while Ralph and Rue had to cut 40kg of Pork!

Ten

Alice was in charge of cooking the Pork Belly and with two and a half hours to go, Andy was concerned that Declan was only halfway through the fish.

“It does feel like it’s falling apart a bit,” our loveable Declan said.

Jock then told Brent that “they were in trouble” due to time, with some of the girls joining in to help him with the Mussels.

Back with the Judges, all three were concerned that there was “no urgency” so both Jock and Andy came in to assist.

Jock. Ten

Prep continues — 90 minutes until service

With 90 minutes until service, it was time to “get out of the weeds”.

Robbie was in charge of the Curry, trying to balance it with sugar, soy sauce, chilli and vinegar while Brent frothed over Alice’s Pork which he deemed “perfect” and we could smell the deliciousness from here!

Ten

Finally, the Mussels were ready to be cooked but Phil was feeling the pressure to get the Beef right. Amy was in charge of making the dressing for the Salad, creating a take on Nam Jim Dressing.

And then huzzah! Finally, with thirty minutes to go, Declan’s fish duties were over… until he realised he still had to cook them.

Meanwhile, Rhiannon was making the Chilli Sauce for the Mussels and Jock asked her to count the Mussels in each bowl to ensure they had enough.

Then disaster struck! With 30 minutes to go, the Yellow team discovered they only had enough Mussels for sixty serves, not 400!

With ten minutes to go, the crowd went wild…and so did Cath!

“Wow!” she said. LOVE HER.

The Turquoise team decided to create tasters of their curry while in a win for the Yellow Team, Brent and Jock gave their meals a taste and were thrilled by what they were eating.

Service and Judging

Service started and “people were swarming up” with the Turquoise team forming an assembly line while the Yellow team continued to struggle, three people short due to the Mussels.

Jock and Andy left their teams to it while Grace felt the pressure to not “disappoint” Andy in particular, who had saved the day.

We then got a glimpse of the patrons, but it was this one in particular that we needed more of:

Ten

The Judges then began… well, judging.

“Looks simple but so much work in there,” Andy said of the Thai Beef Salad. “It’s got a lot of texture and a lot of punch.”

Jock said it was “missing sweetness” and “could have been 50% better”, while Mel said it was “lively”.

As for the Curry, they called it “fancy” and were impressed by the way there were individual portions of Barramundi.

Declan and Phil then got out on the floor to drum up customers and Brent said it was a “great feeling” to be serving their hard work but was worried about the consistency of the cook.

Rhiannon and Brent then served the judges, who started with the Seafood — the Chilli Mussels and Foccaccia.

Andy called the Mussels “perfectly cooked” while Mel said the sauce was “vibrant”. They all agreed the texture of the focaccia was “good”.

As for the Sticky Pork Belly, it was cooked “perfectly” with Andy calling it “belting”. Unfortunately, the garlic had burned and melted into the rice, overpowering it.

The Verdict

“I hope you’re aware of just how big a triumph it [the cook] was,” Mel said, adding that their food raised thousands of dollars for charity.

The team who made it into the Immunity Challenge was: The Turquoise Team!

And there were squeals all around!

MasterChef Australia continues on Thursday at 7.30pm on 10 and 10Play.

Only Murders in the Building season 3 is coming to Disney+! Here’s everything you need to know

Only Murders in the Building is back with a surprise you never saw coming!

During the official 95th Annual Academy Awards broadcast back in March, the first teaser was aired with a sneak peek at guest star and Oscar-winner Meryl Streep in the new season.

In case you’re not too familiar with the premise (but you’re here, so we’re sure you are), the Disney+ season follows three strangers — Charles-Haden Savage, played by Steve Martin, Oliver Putnam, played by Martin Short and Mabel Mora, played by Selena Gomez — who share an obsession with true crime.

When a grisly death occurs inside their exclusive Upper West Side apartment building, the trio suspects murder. It employs their precise knowledge of true crime to investigate the truth via a podcast.

When does it air?

On May 24, it was announced that season three would be premiering on August 8.

Paul Rudd stars in season three of Only Murders in the Building

At the end of season two, we saw Oliver’s Broadway directorial comeback opposite Charles starring Ben Glenroy a.k.a the ageless Paul Rudd.

In February, Rudd told EW that working on the show was “hilarious”.

Martin Short and Paul Rudd. Source: Disney+

“I’ve only worked on it a couple of days, and just to be around them, the dynamic … of Steve Martin and Martin Short together, it’s hilarious,” he said.

“It’s just constant insults. To just hear them knock each other, but there’s so much love between those guys … it’s just so fun to have a front-row seat to all of that.”

Meryl Streep joins the cast of Only Murders in the Building

In the new trailer released on March 15, we got our first look at Streep, who plays an actress in Oliver’s new play.

“Oh my god, it’s me! Alexis,” Streep says with surprise and a laugh during a roundtable reading. “Oh, I’m sorry. It’s me, isn’t it?” Ha! She’s just fab!

When the cast announced her arrival with the sweetest Instagram post in January, fans were positively thrilled!

“Hey guys, we’re on set! What are we shooting? season three!” the young actress said, with greetings from Martin and Short.

“The gang is back! Yay! Could this honestly get any better?” Selena joked before panning to Paul, who said: “Well, I do think it could get a little bit better.”

“Why?” Selena then questioned him before Meryl popped up from behind a couch. LOVE!

“Steve, do you want a pillow?” she asked. “Marty, anything you need?”

“Just the tea I asked for half an hour ago,” he joked.

“You OK?” Meryl then said, putting her hand on Selena’s shoulder. Her response? A coy “no thank you” and JAW-DROPPING EXCITEMENT!

Watch the trailer below!

Season three will pick up where the second season ended, with the gang investigating Ben’s murder!

There’s a huge change coming to Netflix in Australia today so say bye to leaching off your ex

It’s a sad, sad day for TV streamers all over Australia, as it’s been announced that Netflix is implementing its dreaded crackdown on password sharing.

Aussie Netflix users are set to receive an email today that will inform them that they’ll only be able to use their account in ONE household – and give them the option to pay an additional fee to add extra users. Meaning that it’s about to get a whole lot harder to freeload off your ex’s Netflix account. Boo!

“A Netflix account is for use by one household,” the company wrote in an official statement.

“Everyone living in that household can use Netflix wherever they are – at home, on the go, on holiday – and take advantage of new features like Transfer Profile and Manage Access and Devices.”

Squid Games on Netflix
Squid Games. Netflix

How will Netflix control password sharing?

The streaming giant will reportedly use the IP address associated with the account to determine which devices are physically located in the same place, and, hence, part of the same household.

Netflix has assured users that customers who are part of the same household will still be able to stream TV shows and movies from their devices while they travelling, or away from home.

Accounts that are determined to be part of a different household will be given two options: to transfer over their profiles and watchlists or to add an “extra member” to their standard or premium plans.

“Anyone on your account can transfer a profile to a new membership that they pay for,” the email said. “You can share your Netflix account with someone who doesn’t live with you for $7.99/ month more.”

The crackdown on Netflix password sharing comes after it was revealed that “over 100 million households are sharing [Netflix] accounts” and the streaming giant claimed that the loss of revenue from the shared passwords has impacted its ability to invest in “great new TV and films”.

What a day!

The Summit’s Sam reveals why he thinks he was eliminated and spoiler alert! It was “infuriating”

Sam Molineaux was a physical force to be reckoned with on The Summit; however, after racing his kayak, he was outgunned to a duffle bag full of cash by Alex Silvagni and his dreams of reaching the pinnacle came tumbling down.

The May 23 episode of Nine’s hit show wrapped Molineaux’s journey, leaving him with a bittersweet taste after scoring a cool $10k. But, the owner of MoveWell Training in Sydney’s Bondi didn’t climb to the summit just for the cash, thirsting for the ultimate adventure.

“It was right up my alley,” the 29-year-old told Chattr in an interview before his elimination.

“I’ve done a lot of cycling through New Zealand and around a lot of the world but I’ll usually leave my pack and I’ll usually run the trails where I’m like, I wonder how quickly I can do it?”

Sam Molineaux. Nine

Sam Molineaux felt “backstabbed” by his fellow Trekkers

Silvagni played bouncer in the personal trainer’s goodbye show, kicking Molineaux to the curb alongside Isaac Compton, Brooke Kilowsky, and Lulu Hawton.

“Alex led the conversation and I know it was Alex’s voice at large,” he said. “Looking back and seeing the other episodes, I also knew Isaac wanted to get rid of me for a long time, irrespective of how much I helped him through the grit. I had so many chats with Isaac about helping to motivate and keep him on track and keep him going when he wanted to pull out and I felt absolutely backstabbed. Every single person’s hand went up to send me home at that point.

“Not a single one of them could look me in the eye as their hand went up and I was just going through the group and I thought, ‘this is an escalating mutiny’.”

Nine

Sam Molineaux had a target on his back from the get-go

Molineaux’s strength is pushing clients to be their best! Sadly, as soon as he landed on The Summit, everyone knew it was going to be tough to beat him.

“I knew that I wasn’t going to be able to play it low-key and playoff that physical side,” he admitted. “I’m an extremely energetic person and I’m enthusiastic and I have a really hard time dulling that side of me down. I completely thought it was going to come down to physicality and helping every single person out that needed it.”

Fans weren’t oblivious to Molineaux’s assumptions, because let’s face it, you can’t climb a mountain in two weeks without some serious physical gumption!

Nine

“Every single time we saw a Jai [Courtney], he was emphasising how slow we were going, emphasising how much we have to make up,” he said. “And he was pretty clear. If you don’t make it in time, you will get nothing. That was scary and really infuriating when I got voted off, and I was looking around, thinking I’m definitely not the weakest link.”

“I didn’t work on alliances and hiding who I was or how I was going to play the field. Had I done it again, I probably would have played a little bit differently.”

The Summit continues on Sunday, May 28 at 7.30 pm on 9 and 9Now.

The Summit Recap Episode 6: 10K is stolen from the kitty as a strong contender is sent home

Alright, folks! It’s episode six of The Summit a.k.a day nine and that means the eight remaining contestants have only five days left to make it to the top of the mountain and scoop up that sweet $700k cash kitty.

The episode begins with the group prepping their dinner with a side of scheming and deliberating over who’s getting the boot tonight. Because Sam is in the mix, Jans isn’t a priority when it comes to who is trustworthy.

Sam knows he’s got a bullseye on his back tonight, but he’s no pushover. He’s got a trick up his sleeve to pass it on to someone else.

Sam. Nine

Sam is eliminated but there’s a twist

Brooke and Sam were chatting in private when Sam spilled the beans that Josh had named Brooke earlier that day. Though this intel confirmed Brooke’s suspicions, it was too late for Sam, as the majority voted to eliminate him that evening.

Sam makes a dramatic exit from the group, tossing his share of the cash into a black duffle bag outside by the campfire. He figures it’s the end of his adventure but guess what? That sneaky Mountain’s Keeper has other ideas for him!

If a final twist of Sam’s fate, the Mountain’s Keeper drops a note for him: “You are leaving the
mountain, but you don’t have to go empty-handed. You can take 10k from the prize pot, but the
Mountain’s Keeper needs a favour, steal the cash bag, leave it on the shore, and disappear.”

“You’re on,” Sam says.

The group is ready to call it a night, preparing for the tough journey over the lake and snow-capped mountains., leaving the cash bag unattended by the fire. As everyone settles into their sleeping bags, Sam takes on a stealth mission.

He sneaks back into camp and grabs the duffle bag, helps himself to 10k and casually discards the bag with everyone else’s loot into the lake.

The Trekkers realise the bag is missing

The next morning, as the gang wakes up and realises that their precious bag has gone MIA, they start scouring the place for it – but no such luck.

Nine

Brooke, looking bummed says: “That’s some serious dough to lose – we’re talking a truckload of cash here.”

They finally admit defeat and decide it’s time to cross the lake sans the bag.

The Mountain’s Keeper’s surprise

The eerie whir of the Mountain’s Keeper approaches. She’s got a duffle bag dangling from a rope, with the cash inside. But before she returns it, she’s got a fun little activity in mind for the group to make up for their carelessness.

The Mountain’s Keeper plays a game of teasing and taunting, dangling the bag over the lake. The group scrambles to their kayaks to get it, but their pursuit turns into a wild goose chase once she races off into the distance.

Nine

She drops the bag into the water on the opposite side before vanishing, sending them on a wild ride. Alex eventually saves the day by fishing the duffle bag out of its watery grave.

As the group opens the bag, they’re in for a nasty surprise – it’s 10k short and there’s a note from Sam that reads, “All’s fair in love and war.”

The Trekkers become paranoid

Betrayed and furious, they lose valuable time. As they begin to hike to the next campsite, paranoia starts kicking in – if Sam is shady, who else is?

Jans knows he could be next to go, so he tries to throw Sam under the bus, but the group isn’t fooled by his tactics to gain their trust.

The crew lands at the next campsite only to be met with bad weather and lost time. They decide to make camp for the night, but Jai shows up to shame them for their recklessness and then Jans, with his eye on the prize, plays the vulnerability card.

Jans. Nine

After setting up camp, Jans comes clean to the group that teaming up with Sam was a mistake. To win Brooke over, he pulls the classic move of likening her to his mother. Even though Brooke seemed to fall for his sob story, the rest of the group was not convinced by his crocodile tears.

Jans and Brooke take a walk, and Jans wins over Brooke’s trust. Meanwhile, the rest of the crew is freaking out back at camp.

Brooke and her clique were all set to eliminate Jans, but now Brooke’s gone rogue.

What’s going to happen to the group and who’s next on the hit list?!

The Summit continues on Sunday at 7.30pm on 9 and 9Now.
