Reese Witherspoon has confirmed that her character Elle Woods is returning in a Legally Blonde prequel series called Elle.

The hotly anticipated series was announced at Prime Video’s inaugural upfront presentation on May 14, and will be produced by Reese’s company Hello Sunshine and Amazon MGM Studios.

“I truly couldn’t be more excited about this series! Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity, in ways that only our beloved Elle could do. What could be better than that?!” She said.

“I’m extremely grateful to the incredible teams at Prime Video and Hello Sunshine – along with our amazing writer Laura Kittrell – for making this dream of mine come true. Legally Blonde is back!” She added.

The series follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first Legally Blonde film.

Who is in the cast?

The cast hasn’t been announced yet. However, fans are hoping that Reese’s 24-year-old daughter Ava Phillippe will take on her iconic role.

“Her daughter needs to play young Elle Woods!” One person wrote on social media, while another penned: “I hope Ava is playing Elle.”

Is there a trailer?

Not yet, but Reese did share a nostalgic teaser video on TikTok after the announcement.
