Interview: Anna Sophia thinks she would have lasted longer with the ‘old’ Big Brother format

"It wasn't what I expected"

Big Brother Australia 2023 has ruffled some feathers this year, with fans confused as to why a group of young, sexy singles was cast, rather than the usual quirky, diverse group.

Even Big Brother housemate Anna Sophia was surprised at the casting and believes it worked to her detriment.

The 30-year-old was the second housemate evicted from Big Brother Australia 2023, and during an interview with Chattr, Anna Sophia said she would have preferred if the new casting twist wasn’t in place.

“I’m not gonna lie – I 100% thought there would be a lot more different personalities than there were. Quirky and different diverse people.

Big Brother does a spin every year and it is different so I guess I’ve gone into this year’s one. But it wasn’t what I expected.”

Anna Sophia confirmed that she “100%” thinks that she would have gone further on the show had the casting choices been more like previous years.

Big Brother. Seven.

Anna Sophia is a Big Brother superfan

Anna Sophia said that she’s watched every season of Big Brother, and throughout the years she gained an understanding of how the show works, and who is usually cast. However, that, of course, all changed this year.

“I have always been a huge fan of Big Brother. I’ve watched it ever since I was probably about 12 – when I probably shouldn’t been watching it! I love the concept of a load of strangers just going to live together. I think it’s really interesting.

The luxury fashion manager named SJ as her favourite housemate ever on Big Brother Australia.

“I thought she was really individual. She was really her own person,” she said. “This sounds a bit corny, I feel like she’d be someone I would become in the future. She is her own person and she doesn’t follow any sort of norms.”

Big Brother Australia airs Monday to Thursday at 8:30 pm on 7 and 7Plus.
