Prime Video’s UK Original thriller Wilderness has all the trappings of an addictive psychological TV series and we now have a trailer – and a release date – for your next binge sesh.
Like one of the most successful productions of its genre, Gone Girl, Wilderness is also based on a popular novel and has some big names on the cast, including Ashley Benson.
Plus, it’s plain to see that Wilderness hasn’t skimped when it comes to the production side of things. The series is set to generate some serious wanderlust for viewers, with scenes set in Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Las Vegas and New York.
“We were so lucky to film in some incredible locations for the series,” said Oliver Jackson-Cohen who plays the lead male character Will.
“Being surrounded by the mountains in Whistler, stood in the middle of the Grand Canyon desert, or the overwhelming feeling of the Las Vegas strip at night, helped to create such a strong atmosphere while filming.”
What is Wilderness about?
British couple Liv (Jenna Coleman) and Will appear to have the perfect life with a solid marriage and glamorous new life in New York.
However, everything changes when Liv discovers that her husband has been having an affair.
In an effort to win her back, Will organises Liv’s dream American road trip, and she agrees to join him and let bygones be bygones. But, while Will hopes to reconcile, Liv has revenge on her mind, particularly in a landscape where accidents are common.
Coleman describes the series as “a darkly twisted thriller exploring a marriage gone wrong, which shifts into a cat-and-mouse psychological chess game between husband and wife.
“A drama about co-dependency and freedom. Boundaries and blurred edges. Revenge and sanity, or the lack thereof. Ultimately Liv’s tale is one of survival – it becomes a very primal, visceral and feminine tale of coming into her own.”
Who’s in Wilderness?
Coleman, Jackson-Cohen and Benson make up three of the main characters in the series. The cast also includes Eric Balfour, Morgana Van Peebles, Claire Rushbrook, Talia Balsam, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Jonathan Keltz.
