Married at First Sight (MAFS)‘s Rhi Disljenkovic has revealed she’s freezing her eggs in a bid to take the pressure off herself, following a recent split from her ex Jeff Gobbels.
The reality star opened up about her fertility journey in an Instagram story, saying she’s just started the process and is working on getting in a healthy routine ahead of her upcoming appointments.
“I’m going ahead with egg freezing,” she said. “I’ve got my consultation in less than a month, and I’m preparing my body as best I can. So I’m seeing my Chinese medicine doctor on Monday to get the ball rolling there with all the acupuncture, and then my friend Mon, she’s a nutritionist. She is putting me on a few sups which she’s recommended, I’ll let you know what they are.
“But the ball is rolling, and I’m so, so excited,” she added, before asking her followers for any advice they had about egg freezing.
Rhi later shared a screenshot of the advice she’d received from followers, with many recommending she speak to a naturopath about supplements, while others stressed the importance of staying well rested and hydrated.
Rhi explains why she wants to freeze her eggs
In a follow-up story, Rhi, who’s 36, added that her initial post had sparked a lot of questions from her followers, and said she wanted to share why she decided to go ahead with egg freezing.
“I’ve had a lot of people reach out who are in the exact same boat as me and curious about egg freezing and whether to do it or not, and I really do feel you. I think being the age I’m at you go through roller coaster of emotions where you’re like feel empowered and really good about this stage in my life, and then there’s other days where I’m like, “Where did I go wrong? Why am I here right now?” she began.
“And everyone’s timeline is so, so different, and I think it’s good to take the pressure off yourself. You know, relationships sometimes don’t work out, and what you thought doesn’t always go to plan. Well, a lot of the time, it doesn’t go to plan.”
Rhi explained that she knows freezing her eggs doesn’t guarantee that she’ll be able to conceive later, but said she was hoping for a good result.
“I am very well aware that it doesn’t always work for everyone, and fingers crossed that it works for me. And if not, I might have to do around two or round three. We’ll see how it goes. But yeah, I just want to say I feel for the people who put pressure on themselves because I know what that’s like.”
