It was a throwaway insult said by Brook Crompton (who else?) at a Married at First Sight (MAFS) dinner party, but that mean girl moment has just kickstarted a movement.
If you cast your mind back to week three of the MAFS experiment, Brooke and Gia Fleur were having some sort of exorcism high school moment when they decided to verbally attack Alissa Fay and Stella Mick over the dinner table. Insults were hurled, grown adults acted like teen girls, bullies were born and all in all, it was just a bad time.
But what we saw was merely the tip of the iceberg. On an episode of Stan’s After The Dinner Party, unseen footage was played to Stella, revealing that Brook had called the women ‘natural born losers’. When asked by a producer to clarify who she meant, Gia said they were referring to “The whole other table! Except Rach”, which assumedly meant MAFS bride, Rachel Gilmore.
But now Stella and Rachel (yes, the only woman who isn’t an NBL, according to Gia) have teamed up to reclaim the cruel taunt. In an Instagram Reel soundtracked to Beyoncé’s ‘Run The World (Girls)’, Rachel posted footage of herself getting an ‘NBL’ tattoo, which matches Stella’s ink that she debuted a week ago. Twinsies!
“Proud to be a NBL,” Rachel wrote. She went on to say that both herself and Stella were reclaiming the acronym NBL, but instead of standing for ‘Natural Born Losers’, they considered themselves ‘Natural Born Legends’. Amen!
“This is representing taking back power from words that were spoken to cause harm and put @mickstella_ down. Something I know many, including myself have experienced through life. Natural Born Legends is not a moment, it’s a movement.”
What does the NBL tattoo mean to Stella and Rachel from MAFS?
In mid-April, Stella posted images of her getting ‘NBL 2026 13’ tattooed on her right arm, with 13 signifying season 13 of MAFS. And now, Stella is ready to talk about what these women have cooking behind their cryptic tattoos.
In an interview with Chattr about the Natural Born Legends movement, Stella clarified that the BFFs are currently in a “creative process of seeing where it could go,” adding that “we both found out we love talking life and being so different,” and they’ve found they ‘balance’ each other out.
In an Instagram post, Stella opened up further on what the NBL movement is all about. “Being judged publicly didn’t break me. It activated something. That’s where NBL’s was born,” Stella wrote.

“What was meant as an insult became a movement in my heart… Natural Born Legends. For the people who were mocked for being different. For the ones who got boxed in, underestimated, talked down to, or made to feel like ‘too much’ or too little,” she continued.
“For the people who turned pain into purpose. For anyone ready to reclaim what life, people, or fear tried to take. NBL’s is proof that labels can be rewritten. That power can be reclaimed. That what they laughed at can become what leads you. And now? Let’s build something bigger in full view.”
When pressed by Chattr to elaborate on their Natural Born Legends plans, Stella said “We will share once we have news,” she replied, noting that “we are in workshop stage, creative mess as they say.”
Based on this vague info, I’m sensing a podcast or YouTube series dropping any day now from Stella and Rach, and I’m already a huge fan!
