Danny Hewitt was one of the few Married at First Sight (MAFS) participants to make it all the way to the end, but after a controversial Dinner Party, he skipped the Commitment Ceremony Reunion, leaving Bec to face the experts alone on the couch.

The experts called Danny out for avoiding taking accountability, and Bec told Chattr that his choice not to attend felt like “a huge slap in the face.”

“I think that Danny not coming to the commitment ceremony is indicative of when Danny doesn’t like a narrative about him, or he feels like he doesn’t look like he’s in his best light, then this is Danny, he doesn’t show up,” she explained.

“I think it was disrespectful, it was rude. I’ve shown up to everything. I may be this person who does the wrong thing all the time, but I face the music every time, and I get a lot of judgment for it. Danny’s had a lot of opinions about me and my behaviour, but he’s confronted for the first time, and he doesn’t rock up. So, I think it says a lot more about him than not.”

Bec reveals why Danny skipped the Commitment Ceremony Reunion

Bec added that she believes Danny knew he’d get grilled by the experts if he came to the Commitment Ceremony Reunion, and she wishes that he’d been brave enough to “face the music” with her.

“We’ve gone through this whole experiment together, the least you could have done was come and sit there with those experts and explain yourself, explain why it is that you stayed every single week. What was the reason?

“But I think if he did come and sit there, I think he knows that he would have been asked tough questions, and he would have had to have been honest, and that wasn’t going to be good for his image or his storyline of the whole season.”

Bec added that she wishes Danny had let her down gently before Final Vows, instead of brutally blindsiding her by dumping her in front of the nation.

“We should have left I shouldn’t have been walking down that path to Final Vows. He knew he wasn’t going to leave with me. He knew.”
