What is the documentary about?
Hot Potato: The Story of The Wiggles is the incredible tale of The Wiggles, four pals who came together in the early ’90s to create a one-of-a-kind children’s music album, forever revolutionizing the global music scene. Recognizable by their colourful skivvies—blue, red, yellow, and purple—Anthony Field, Murray Cook, Greg Page, and Jeff Fatt embarked on an improbable journey to become an unlikely music phenomenon.
Armed with the essentials of early childhood teaching and a strong belief in themselves, they overcame countless rejections from industry insiders. The Wiggles took matters into their own hands and emerged as the most successful children’s act in history.
It also follows the band as three of the original Wiggles retired from the group which it caused a seismic reaction. Parents had to explain to their kids why their beloved idols were no longer Wiggles, as three new members, including the first woman in the Australian group, took their places.
The backlash they faced was fierce. The Wiggles went from performing to packed stadiums to half-empty halls. Nevertheless, they persevered, returning to hard work, life on the road, and creating new music. The revamped Wiggles soon embarked on a trajectory to become bigger than ever.
