Christian Ellis on The Voice episode 9

The Voice Recap Episode 9: Two judges officially fill their teams

It’s episode 9 of The Voice Australia and all four coaches are coming very close to filling their teams.

The talent-filled night saw coaches Rita Ora and Guy Sebastian officially acquire the last members of their teams. With just one episode of the Blind Auditions left, Jason Derulo and Jessica Mauboy also worked towards securing their final singers.

Christian Ellis, 20

Christian Ellis blew the judges away with an acoustic version of Tina Turner’s The Best. The rendition caught the attention of Jess and Rita, who were screaming in excitement before spinning their chairs.

The bell boy opened up about suffering spinal paralysis from a soccer ball that hit his lower back left. He told the judges that he had to learn to walk again and said that singing gave him something to live for.

Jason’s pitch to become Christian’s singing and personal mentor won him over, and the ‘Talk Dirty’ singer recruited another team member.

Emily Kate, 18

Emily Kate belted out Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls and the mesmerising performance had all four judges spinning their chairs.

“Do you know incredible that audition was? Emily, you have just changed my perspective of being a coach on this show. That was the perfect audition,” Rita asked her.

“That was a 101 masterclass of how to audition for The Voice,” Guy added.

Rita used her block on Guy and Emily took the final spot on Team Rita.

Charlie Pittman, 25

With Rita’s team officially full, Charlie Pittman turned the remaining three coaches’ chairs with his rendition of Dean Lewis’ How Do I Say Goodbye.

“I think you’ve got the goods to make a career out of this,” Guy told him, while Jess added: “You’re a ready-to-go pop star. You could be on the radio tomorrow.”

Charlie opted for Guy as a coach, officially taking the last spot on his team.

The Voice continues 7.00 pm on Sunday on Channel 7 and 7plus.
