If you love a bit of drama mixed in with your home reno when it comes to reality TV, then you’re probably counting the days until The Block 2025 premieres. Well, you’re in luck, because we finally have an air date!
The home-renovation show features pairs of teams that completely renovate a house located on the same street — or, in The Block 2024‘s case, the same holiday complex. Once the houses are completed, they go to auction, and the contestants get to keep whatever amount the property sells for over the reserve. Plus, the couple who makes the most scores an extra $100,000 prize money on top.
Two new twists have been announced for The Block 2025, and it’s safe to say this could be one of the most interesting seasons yet. Here’s what we know so far about this year’s season of The Block.
What is The Block 2025 release date?
Blockheads, it’s time to grab your popcorn, because The Block 2025 premieres on Sunday, July 27 at 7pm on Channel 9 and 9Now. That’s just around the corner!
What are the major twists coming to The Block 2025?
Channel 9 confirmed that contestants will be building their homes from scratch — for the first time ever. This is going to be a huge challenge, and the duos would not have expected it.
The second twist, which could cause heartbreak, tears and drama, is that contestants are no longer allowed to work on their properties overnight. That means no more all-nighters, and the building site will be locked up in the evenings. We might see more rooms fail to be completed with the drastic drop in renovation time, which means more on screen drama.
Is there a trailer?
There is! The first The Block trailer was released on June 18 and it shows hosts Scotty Cam and Shelley Craft introduce all of the 2025 blockheads. Watch it for yourself below.
Who will be competing in The Block 2025?
We finally know who will be competing on The Block 2025.
The five teams will consist of Britt and Taz (Team Red), Emma and Ben (Team Blue), Robby and Mat (Team Aqua), Han and Can (Team Orange) and Sonny and Alicia (Team Yellow).
Sonny and Alicia, QLD
Sonny is a 44-year-old plumber and he’s competing with his wife Alicia, 42, who works as a dental practice manager.
Robby and Mat, SA
Robby, 37 and Mat, 41, are likely to have only good hair days, as these two best mates have day jobs as a barber and hairdresser.
Han and Can, WA
This couple rocks! Han, 29, is a geologist, and her partner Can, 31, is a marketing analyst.
Britt and Taz, WA
Britt and Taz are alike in more than one way. The married couple are both police officers and are both 30 years old.
Em and Ben, VIC
This final married couple will bring mixed skills to the table. Em, 33, is a dance teacher, while Ben, 32, is an engineer.
Where is The Block 2025 filmed?
The location of The Block 2025 is the Victorian countryside town of Daylesford. On March 4, a flyer announcing the beginning of filming was shared with a The Block fan Facebook group.
“In just three days, The Block will begin filming in Daylesford and surrounds. You can expect to see increased activity around town as film and set crews become more present,” the letter began.
It informed residents of the area that there would be increased visitors and encouraged local businesses to contact Channel 9 if they wanted their products featured on the popular show.
The blueprint reveals that each residence will feature the exact same layout, with 5 bedrooms, an office area, a common living space, an inclusive covered garage, and high-grade outdoor spaces that comprise a heated swimming pool and comprehensive landscaping.
