Meet Sandy Jawanda: The Married at First Sight 2023 bride who fears being used for "one thing"

Married at First Sight Australia 2023 bride, Sandy Jawanda has never been in a serious relationship.

Growing up as an Indian woman born in Australia, Sandy’s parents were very strict in upholding the traditional values of Indian culture.

Even though she is 36, she has had limited exposure to the opposite sex.

Due to her upbringing, she was not allowed to mix with boys and had no male friends. She even went to an all-girls school and achieved a Bachelor of Nursing among predominantly female peers.

Like many people, the dental hygienist struggles with insecurities that come with the lack of dating experience and the fear of being used for “one thing”.

According to her official Nine bio, the Victorian is ready to fast-track her experience with someone who can respect her boundaries and help her overcome these fears.

Since her parents are still happily together in an arranged marriage, Sandy believes the MAFS experiment could 100% work for her.

She’s hoping to find someone compassionate during the experiment.

Including Sandy Jawanda in the line-up was important for diversity

During an interview with Mediaweek, executive producer John Walsh said that “diversity” was important during the casting process.

“Diversity is an important thing in casting, and there’s really been a shift over the last few seasons,” he said.

“The inclusion of Sandy was very important to us; we have someone like her represent her community and in the show, and not just her ethnicity, but her story.”
