The internet’s boyfriend Paul Mescal has received an Oscar nomination and no one was more excited than his family.

The Irish-born star received a nod for his turn as a single-dad in Aftersun, a father-daughter indie drama in which he also scored a BAFTA nom.

Taking to social media after the awards were announced, his sister Nell shared a snap of their family absolutely losing their goddamn-minds.

“How did this happen,” she captioned an Instagram Story which featured their dad Paul, mum Dearbhla and the oldest Mescal sibling, Donncha with various looks of disbelief.

She also shared a pic of Paul sitting on a bed smiling (pictured above), simply writing: “yup” and yup, indeed!

Thrilled beyond belief, Nell also Tweeted: “I’M SOBBING [SIC]” and, babes. So are we!

At the time of publication, the Tweet has garnered over 601k views, with fans from across the globe sending well-wishes to Paul.

In a seperate Tweet, Nell admitted the real reason why she didn’t share the actual footage.

“I would post the video of my reaction but those tears were UGLY [sic],” she said. LOL!

Aftersun is set at a fading vacation resort, where 11-year-old Sophie (Frankie Corio) treasures rare time together with her loving and idealistic father, Calum (Mescal).

This is the first time the Normal People alum has received an Oscar nomination, however, we’re certain there’s more to come!
