Investigation: Does Kyle Viljoen get fired on Below Deck Mediterranean?

There's a few telling signs...

Kyle Viljoen’s actions have caused one stew to leave and another deckhand to contemplate doing the same in what could be the most polarising season ever from the Below Deck franchise.

Episode nine of Below Deck Mediterranean season eight, saw a vicious fight between Kyle and Natayla Scudder escalate, and the Australian ended up packing her bags and leaving the boat. Deckhand Max Salvador also had a run-in with Kyle, and he told Bosun Luka Brunton that as a result, he wanted to leave after the next charter.

Furthermore, in the final moments of the episode, Captain Sandy Yawn confronts Kyle over his behaviour on board. She furiously tells him that he’s the common denominator in all the drama, and says she’d never bring him back as a chief stew. The episode cuts out when Sandy is in the middle of schooling Kyle over his rancid behaviour.

So, does he get fired?

Unfortunately for those hoping that Kyle is getting left at the next port, some signs indicate that he may not be getting fired by Captain Sandy.

Firstly, the description for episode nine confirms that a new crew member is joining the Mustique, which is presumably to replace Natalya. However, it doesn’t sound as though there will be multiple new additions – which would likely be the case if Kyle was leaving, too.

“A new crew member arrives but may lack some necessary skills; the deckhands face their most challenging docking yet,” the description reads.

Kyle’s Instagram post suggests he isn’t leaving

Shortly after the controversial episode aired, Kyle shared a very lengthy Instagram post, which brings us to point two.

His text post basically blamed everyone else on board and suggested that there was more Kyle-related Below Deck drama to come, which he would presumably need to be part of the show for.

“What I can say is you are going to see me going through more difficult situations in the season and hell I am exhausted of it too,” he wrote in part of the post.

“All I want is my chance to grow, so I ask, grow with me and journey with me… as I continuously dream to be on your television screens more and by sharing the stories that matter, the real, the laugher, the future.”
