Superstar icon Meryl Streep has joined the Season Three cast of Only Murders in the Building.

Taking to her Instagram, series lead Selena Gomez — accompanied by co-stars Martin Short and Steve Martin — announced the EPIC news featuring appearances by Andrea Martin and Paul Rudd.

“Hey guys, we’re on set! What are we shooting? Season Three!” the young actress said, with greetings from Steve and Martin.

“The gang is back! Yay! Could this honestly get any better?” Selena joked before panning to Paul, who said: “Well, I do think it could get a little bit better.”

“Why?” Selena then questioned him before Meryl popped up from behind a couch. LOVE!

“Steve, do you want a pillow?” she asked. “Marty, anything you need?”

“Just the tea I asked for half an hour ago,” he joked.

“You OK?” Meryl then said, putting her hand on Selena’s shoulder. Her response? A coy “no thank you” and JAW-DROPPING EXCITEMENT!

Fans took to the comments in droves praising the casting choice

Of course, fans and other media outlets were ecstatic over the casting choice.

“I’M SO EXCITED. THIS IS ICONIC,” one person wrote, while another said: “Absolute Legends!!!”

“This is the best day of my life,” the social media manager from Instyle US penned, while MTV’s official ‘gram said: “OK, how do *I* join this cast????”

Imposters actress Inbar Levi was all of us when she said: “Holly [sic] s**t! CAN’T WAIT”, before the official Insta account of Only Murders In the Building commented: “Only legends in the building!” and we couldn’t agree more!

The comedy-drama series follows Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez), neighbours at an Upper West Side building called the Arconia, who bond over a love of true crime podcasts and end up starting their own as mysterious murders happen around them. 

The series has already seen a bevvy of cameos, including Sting and series regular Tina Fey, but Meryl would have to be the cherry on top.

Season Three will pick up as Charles, Oliver and Mabel work to figure out who killed Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd). The Season 2 finale saw the new character die onstage while performing in a Broadway play opposite Charles, directed by Oliver.

This is going to be UNREAL!
