Bondi Rescue lifeguard saves the life of Kyle Sandilands’ aunty during Bondi Junction stabbings

"If he doesn't get to her, she is going to die"

KIISFM and Australian Idol judge Kyle Sandilands has shared the harrowing news that an aunt of his wife Tegan Kynaston was among those injured in the knife attack at Westfield Bondi Junction on April 13.

During Monday’s broadcast of The Kyle and Jackie O Show, the 52-year-old revealed the relative, named Yvonne, was stabbed opposite Chanel, suffering a shoulder wound.

Speaking about the incident, he then said that Bondi Rescue lifeguard Andy Reid could see Yvonne lying on the ground.

Andy — who was locked inside Myer — saw Yvonne collapsed on the floor outside before insisting to be let out to offer first aid.

“He told them to let him out of Myer because if he doesn’t get to her, she is going to die,” Kyle said. “So they let him out and he ran to assistance until the paramedics arrived.”

Jackie O also shared a story, revealing that her ex-husband Lee Henderson frequented a JiuJitsu class inside the “mall part” and a few days earlier, their daughter Kitty had asked if he would go inside Westfield with her.

“You can go on your own. It’s Bondi Junction. Nothing ever happens in Bondi Junction,” Lee had told her.

“You do think that,” Jackie said, before adding: “On that day that it happened, just a couple of hours before that happened, Kitty asked me if she could go to Westfield in Bondi Junction… she was meeting a friend there.

“As we were leaving to go there, she stubbed her toe and broke it and so we were forced to stay home…because she broke it, it meant that we stayed home.”

“Something like that for her would have been really traumatic,” Jackie said.
