William’s biological mother will reveal her startling concerns in 7NEWS Spotlight: William Tyrell

"From the start, I always had concerns."

Network Seven is dropping a special segment called 7NEWS Spotlight: William Tyrell, which will explore the mysterious disappearance of the three-year-old in 2014.

It’s one of Australia’s most high-profile missing people cases, and over the past almost decade, several key suspects have been identified, only to be later ruled out.

7NEWS Spotlight: William Tyrell will feature an emotional interview with the missing boy’s biological mother, during which she’ll share her concerns about his foster parents.

Investigative journalist Liam Bartlett will host the segment, and he’ll be joined by a panel of leading criminal experts, including Mark Morri, who is News Corp’s most senior crime reporter who bought to light the investigation into the foster mother.

Charlie Bezzina, one of the country’s most effective homicide detectives, will also feature, as well as investigative author Caroline Overington.

“Sadly, this is a case that, for too long, has captivated the Australian public in the worst way. Either in the hope of finding little William – or find the person or people responsible for his disappearance,” Bartlett said in a statement.

“Hopefully this time the new development is not another false start – and we can be part of a discussion that may lead to a genuine solution.

When did William Tyrell go missing?

Tyrell went missing on September 12, 2014, while at his foster grandmother’s house on Benaroon Drive in Kendall, on the NSW Mid-North Coast.

Despite a huge amount of public awareness and ongoing police investigations, no trace of Tyrell’s body has ever been found.

What is the latest development?

In June, police from Strike Force Rosann handed evidence over to prosecutors and suggested that Tyrell’s foster mother be charged with perverting the course of justice and interfering with a corpse.

The strike force does not believe the woman, who’s name is concealed for legal reasons, caused Tyrell’s death but the theory is that he died in an accident in the town of Kendall and his foster mother allegedly covered it up by hiding his body.
