Grease is the word! Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies will be CHOCK-FULL of OG Nostalgia

"Act cool...look cool and...be cool."

It’s a (pink) ladies’ world, and we’re all just living in it! Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies is coming and it’s jam-packed with nostalgia.

Pipped as a prequel to the beloved 1978 movie Grease, the new series will focus on four outcasts, who dare to have fun on their own terms!

Premiering on April 7 — exclusively on Paramount+ — the 10-episode long season will feature students at Rydell High singing and dancing their way through their teen years.

Dropping every Friday after the premiere date, we will be introduced to our OG #girlgang played by newcomers Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Tricia Fukuhara and Ari Notartomaso.

In the new adaptation, it’s 1954. It’s a time before rock ‘n’ roll ruled and before the T-Birds were the coolest in the school. And in this tale, our gang of misfits just wanna have fun!

While they dare to dream, their outspoken ways and differing views will spark a moral panic amongst their cohort, changing their school forever.

What did we learn from the Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies trailer?

Underscored by Grease is the Word, the Handjive and even the iconic xylophone announcement ding, the trailer gives us a glimpse of everything that we loved about the first film, made new again.

“There are a lot of kids at Rydell who are sick of feeling like they’re not welcome here,” Davila’s Jane says, before Notartomaso’s Cynthia says: “We’re not girls, we’re ladies”.

“The Pink Ladies,” Jane tells her friends, stopping them in their tracks.

Ontop of the epic dance numbers, brand new tunes and the 50s fashion, there’s also a Pink Lady pledge.

“To act cool. To look cool and to be cool. Till death do us part. Think, pink!” Love it!

According to EW, the series has 31 new original songs by Justin Tranter, and get this!

The show is not only based on the smash-hit movie, but they’re also based on the REAL Pink Ladies at the high school of the original creator!
